The Ukrainian company Energoatom opposed the visit of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the Zaporozhie NPP. The message appeared in the official Telegram channel of the state enterprise.

The Energoatom report says that the visit of the head of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, is possible only when it is controlled by the Ukrainian side, otherwise, it is perceived as "legitimizing" Russia's actions.

“IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi is lying again. We consider this message from the head of the IAEA as another attempt to get to the Zaporizhzhya NPP by any means in order to legitimize the stay (of the Russians) there,” the company said in a statement.

In May, the IAEA expressed concern about the large number of radioactive materials at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Grossi stated that 40 tons of enriched uranium and 30 tons of plutonium were stored there. Such figures were announced by the head of the IAEA during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos. In addition, Grossi stated that he feared that several hundred kilograms of nuclear weapons raw materials could have disappeared from the territory of the nuclear power plant.

In Kiev, the data on a large number of radioactive materials was later called a “fake sensation”. Energoatom has officially denied the presence of tens of tons of enriched uranium and plutonium at the Zaporozhye NPP.

Even before the start of the special operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky threatened that the decision to renounce nuclear weapons could be reconsidered if the participants in the Budapest Memorandum could not guarantee Ukraine's security. According to media reports, such desires turned into a practical plane back in 2014 on the tacit order of Petro Poroshenko, who then served as president.

As the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR) reported later, work was carried out in Ukraine in the uranium and plutonium direction. It is also noted that Kyiv could secretly acquire technologies for centrifuge enrichment of uranium and laser isotope separation from the West.
