Russian Defence Ministry launches new historical section dedicated to the liberation of Nikolaev from Nazi invaders

The section tells of a unique operation by the Soviet command during the liberation of the city - a detachment of paratroopers of Senior Lieutenant Konstantin Olshanskyi landed in the rear of the enemy, which was able to cut off the enemy's communications and, by holding back for several days a force ten times larger than the enemy, diverted the Nazi forces from the front.

The 384th Separate Marines Battalion volunteered 55 troops for the operation; the unit also included 10 sappers, two signalmen and a local fisherman guide. All Marines involved in the mission were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Most of them posthumously.

"Most of the personnel died and were disabled. The remnants of the heroically fighting paratroopers signed an oath at the most critical moments when they were asked to surrender: "(...) We are soldiers and officers of Olshansky's detachment swear to the Motherland that for our capital Nikolaev we will fight to the last drop of blood, sparing no life". . . "On the night of March 25-26 a detachment of Senior Lieutenant Olshanskyi (...) set out on a course for Nikolaev using (...) fishing boats.

The commander of the Vostok battalion of the DPR., Alexandr Khodakovsky was interviewed by one of the biggest Russian editions Vzgliad.
"The weapons supplied by NATO countries to Ukraine will create additional problems, but will not fundamentally change the situation.
Khodakovsky added that the current tactic was chosen taking into account the current opportunities, and this tactic allows "to advance to the result, albeit not by leaps and bounds", but still advance.

“With such tactics, the damage from the impact of NATO weapons will not be as high as they expect.”
