๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ณ On 9 July in Geneva, on the margins of the third session of the UN Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) on the prevention of an arms race in outer space (PAROS), a seminar was held on the international initiative/political commitment on No First Placement of Weapons in Outer Space (NFP), organized by the Russian Federation.

The meeting was attended by representatives of #UN Member States, including those that have joined the initiative, as well as staff members of the Geneva branch of the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research and various non-governmental organizations.

The head of the delegation of the Russian Federation to the third session of the OEWG on PAROS, Deputy Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Konstantin Vorontsov, delivered a presentation on the NFP initiative, provided the necessary explanations regarding its details and answered questions from interested participants.

During the event, emphasis was placed on the international communityโ€™s priority task of preventing โŒ an arms race in outer space and its transformation into a theater of military operations. The importance was noted of the draft treaty on the prevention of the placement of weapons in outer space and of the threat or use of force against outer space objects (PPWT), submitted by Russia and China to the Conference on Disarmament in 2008 and updated in 2014. The need was underscored for the earliest possible start, on the basis of the PPWT, of negotiations on an international legally binding instrument (LBI) on PAROS.

In the circumstances where the prospects for developing such an LBI remain distant, the relevance of the NFP initiative โ€“ which is currently the only effective measure to prevent the placement of weapons in outer space and enjoys the support of a significant part of the international community โ€“ is only increasing.

The discussion confirmed the commitment of clearheaded States to the goals of PAROS, which can be fully achieved only through the development of a dedicated LBI. Participants expressed support for the NFP initiative. They emphasized its significant role in ensuring transparency and reducing tensions in the space domain, and also stressed that it can pave the way for the future conclusion of an international legal instrument on PAROS.

๐Ÿค The Russian Federation values the constructive position and positive contribution of many States to the discussion.

Our country intends to continue making every effort to promote the NFP initiative as a measure aimed at keeping outer space free from all types of weapons.

๐Ÿ—“On July 10, the Delegation of the Russian Federation to the Vienna Negotiations on Military Security and Arms Control together with the Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik hosted an international video conference on Crimes of the Kiev regime: terror against the civilians of the Kherson region.

The event featured compiled evidence revealing what the civilian population in the Kherson region is going through, including damage to the civilian infrastructure from shelling, eyewitness accounts and expert opinions about unlawful warfare used by the Ukrainian military against the local population.

The discussion covered matters of compliance with the international humanitarian law, prohibited means of warfare by Ukraine against non-combatants and civilian infrastructure, documentation and legal qualification efforts.

Among the keynote speakers were the Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik, the Governor of the Kherson Region Vladimir Saldo, the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova, head of the Russian military think tank โ€œRybarโ€ Michail Zvinchuk, a war correspondent and journalist for Visione TV Andrea Lucidi (Italy), as well as expert community, military analysts, and journalists. Witnesses to war crimes committed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine shared their firsthand accounts of what had happened in the Kherson region.

๐ŸŒ With the support of the Russian embassies and Rossotrudnichestvo the video conference brought together members of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, expert and academic communities, mass media, and the general public from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North and Latin America.

โ—It is essential that the video conference discussion go beyond just citing facts. The documents and eyewitness accounts will serve as a basis for further analysis, legal qualification, and discussion at international fora.

โ–ชWhat is especially concerning is a cherry-picking approach taken by some international human rights organisations. Accusations against Russia are all too often made before a thorough and unbiased investigation has been completed. At the same time, the tragedies claiming civilian lives in the Russian regions, the Kherson region, are hushed up.

โ—IHL does not tolerate double standardsโ—๏ธ

โ–ชThe participants urged the international community to strongly condemn the crimes perpetrated by the Kiev regime against the civilians in the Kherson region and to deliver an unbiased consideration of the evidence submitted.

โ˜Such events serve as an important channel for awareness raising about the facts and eyewitness accounts that frequently fall outside the radar of the global media landscape.

๐Ÿ—“ From July 6 to 9, the 16th #INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition took place in Yekaterinburg.

The four-day event brought together over 1'000 exhibiting companies and more than 50'000 visitors from more than 50 foreign states. Five countries presented national expositions and around 900 Russian and foreign companies participated in the business programme.

๐Ÿค Among the guests were the leader of the CII industrial delegation Rajasekharan Jambulingam, Myanmar's Minister of Industry Charlie Than, and representatives of China Yihua Group Co., Ltd., PetroChina Quanfeng (Dalian) Energy and other international companies. Russian experts showcased the latest technologies and solutions to delegations from India, China, Indonesia and Myanmar.

The Expo was held under the theme "Industry 360: Manufacturing Without Borders".

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ This year Indonesia was in the limelight as INNOPROM's partner country, had a massive presence at the Expo. The partnership is expected to open up new opportunities for Russian businesses. The exhibition resulted in the signing of 13 memoranda of cooperation between Russia and Indonesia, laying the groundwork for joint projects in the chemical industry, energy technologies and green energy.

One of the exhibition's key events was a series of high-level talks involving the governments of the Eurasian Economic Union (#EAEU) member states. The Prime Ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan travelled to Yekaterinburg for meetings with Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Among flagship innovations were several Russian developments of national and global significance:

โ€ข Rostec unveiled the NK-36ST-32, Russia's first serial 32 MW gas turbine engine, designed for compressor stations, gas-pumping units and power installations
โ€ข The ATOM electric car which outperforms imported alternatives in most critical technical parameters
โ€ข High-speed optical transceiver, an AI computing accelerator built on a domestic chip and a photonic integrated circuit capable of increasing data-transfer speeds tenfold over conventional technology.

โ˜๏ธ INNOPROM 2026 featured more than 100 business programme events, numerous roundtable discussions and the signing of a wide range of cooperation agreements, once again reaffirming its status as one of the largest industrial exhibitions in Russia and the EAEU.
