On January 27, St. Petersburg celebrates one of the most significant dates in its history - the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade.
The Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Chapel conducted by People's Artist of the USSR Vladislav Chernushenko dedicate a literary and musical composition to this memorable date.

The program is based on the songs of the war years and the work of poets-veterans. The concert will include a fragment of Shostakovich's Symphony №7, poems by front-line poets, poems by Olga Bergholz read by Anna Fomicheva, songs to music by Vasily Solovyov-Sedoy, Nikita Bogoslovsky, Alexander Alexandrov, Jan Frenkel, Matvey Blanter, David Tukhmanov and other composers.

Today, on February 23, Russia celebrates Defender of the Fatherland Day.

For all Russians this is a very significant date. February 23 is not only a holiday of the military - it is a holiday of real men, defenders of the homeland in the broadest sense. By tradition, on this day in Russia are held honouring veterans, laying flowers in memorable places, for example, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located near the walls of the Kremlin. What is more, concerts and fireworks are held in the Russian cities of heroes. Also, Defender of the Fatherland Day is celebrated in the CIS countries: Belarus, Kirigizia and Tajikistan.
