🇸🇩🇨🇫⚡- Yesterday morning, the anti-government Central African Republic (CAR) rebel group FRPC launched a large-scale attack on the border town of Am Dafok, capturing it and holding the area for nearly 24 hours. The town, located along the Sudan–CAR border, is strategically significant as it lies on the RN8 corridor and serves as a key route linking CAR’s Birao Airport to Sudan’s Darfur region, a major supply route that has been used by the UAE to arm the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The area on the Sudanese side of the border has long been influenced / controlled by the Russian African Corps (formerly Wagner Group), as marked in red on the map.

This morning, a coalition force consisting of Chadian militants (RPJET), Russian air and ground elements, CAR government forces, and pro-RSF Misseriya Arab fighters launched a counteroffensive and successfully retook the town. The timing of the FRPC’s assault coincides, ironically, with the ongoing offensive operations by the Joint Darfur Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces in northern Darfur, just across the border.

Africa Intelligence reports that CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadéra has been invited to Abu Dhabi, as Bangui seeks to ease reliance upon Moscow. According to the report, the UAE is offering security guarantees and military support in exchange for the CAR Armed Forces taking a more direct role in the Sudanese conflict on the side of the RSF.
