🇺🇸🇬🇱⚡- BREAKING: President Trump announces a deal has been made for Greenland in an interview with CNBC.

"I think it is going to be a very good deal for the US and also for them [Denmark]. [NATO Chief] Rutte was representing them. I assume he has been speaking to all of them.

We will work together on something having to do with the Arctic as a whole, but also Greenland.

The deal is a little bit complex. We will explain it down the line. It is the kind of a deal that I wanted to be able to make. It’s better than Obama’s Iran nuclear deal, this deal is forever," - President Trump.

🇺🇸🇬🇱⚡- The New York Times reports the US-Greenland deal will be similar to that of the UK-Cyprus agreement.

US, Danish and NATO officials are in discussions to build a framework in which small pockets of Greenland would be granted US sovereignty. The US would be able to build and operate military infrastructure at these sites, in a similar way the UK operates two sites on Cyprus.

The framework was pushed by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

🇺🇸🇬🇱⚡- "The Secretary General [Mark Rutte] had a very productive meeting with President Trump, during which they discussed the critical significance of security in the Arctic region to all Allies, including the United States.

Discussions among the NATO Allies on the framework the President referenced will focus on ensuring Arctic security through the collective efforts of Allies, especially the seven Arctic allies [the US, Canada, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland].

Negotiations between Denmark, Greenland and the United States will go forward aimed at ensuring that Russia and China never gain a foothold – economically or militarily – in Greenland," - Allison Hart, NATO spokeswoman.

🇺🇸🇬🇱🇷🇺⚡️- Vladimir Putin stated that the agreement between the U.S. and Denmark for the acquisition of Greenland “has no bearing on Russia.”

🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺⚡️- Ukrainian Government official, Rustem Umerov, met with American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Davos.

Umerov stated the talks concerned security guarantees and post-war recovery.

Witkoff and Kushner are set to meet with Putin in Moscow tomorrow.

🇺🇸⚡️- ICE launched an immigration enforcement operation today in Maine, titled “Operation Catch of the Day.” The operation began in Maine’s greater Portland area, where up to 50 illegal immigrants were arrested.

ICE Deputy Assistant Director Patricia Hyde stated the operation targeted 1,400 illegals with national backgrounds such as Senegal, Somalia, Honduras, Guatemala, and the Congo.

Hyde’s comments signal a willingness from ICE to be more transparent, as escalations have only risen since the excursion into Minneapolis and the deadly shooting of Renee Good, along with administrative leaks to the press communicating President Trump’s concern about the “look” of the ICE operations. - POLITICO.
