Trukhanov has been accused of holding a dual Russian citizenship. Trukhanov has been Mayor of Odessa since 2014, and under his tenure, Odessa has been a major contributor of support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, he was previously part of the now-banned pro-Russian Party of Regions.
