Note, the ceasefire signed is between the M23 and the DRC military, FARDC, it does not include the anti-M23 military group Wazalendo. It's likely FARDC are arming Wazalendo to continue fighting the M23, while the Armed Forces observe the so-called ceasefire.

The objective of the Cambodian troops was likely to reach and secure a point on Thailand's coastal highway Route 3. This would effectively cut southern Trat Province completely from the rest of Thailand. The attempt failed, with Thailand's Navy intervening.

This confirms reports that began circulating in the media last night regarding clashes in this region.

🇹🇭🇰🇭⚡- BREAKING: Violent close-quarter combat has been ongoing in the Poi Pet direction for a few hours.

Cambodian sources report a heavy buildup of Thai military opposite the Cambodian city of Krong Poi Pet. Thailand's military is reportedly attempting to capture the Poi Pet border checkpoint.

Krong Poi Pet could become the first urban battle of the Thailand-Cambodia conflict.
