On November 13, at Auditoria (Tbilisi), we’ll hold a lecture “Basics of Modular Synthesis.”
This lecture explores the fundamental principles of modular synthesis — from simple building blocks to creating living, evolving sound systems.
We’ll cover:
— main types of modules: generators, filters, modulators — what they do and how they work
— how to connect modules together to make sound come alive
— types of synthesis: FM, wavetable, additive, subtractive — how they differ and sound
— and, of course, something fun :)
What you’ll need:
— a laptop
— installed VCV Rack
Venue: Auditoria, 22 Simon Janashia Street, Tbilisi
Time: November 13, starts at 20:00
Language: Russian
Entry:
- 20 GEL with pre-registration, 25 GEL on the day of the event, 15 GEL — online streaming (payment via Russian cards also available; details in the bot) https://t.iss.one/auditoria_tbilisi_bot?start=upbga

We will cover:
— the architecture of a hybrid module’s software layer
— real-time code vs. non-real-time code: what the difference is and how they interact
— audio and CV processing: principles, constraints, and practical approaches
Venue: Auditoria, 22 Simon Janashia Street, Tbilisi
Time: November 20, starts at 20:00
Language: Russian
Entry:
— 20 GEL with pre-registration, 25 GEL on the day of the event, 15 GEL for online streaming

On November 30 at 19:00 Ray State invite everyone interested in sound to our new event — Probe.
Here you can show your own synthesizers, try someone else’s, and talk to people who build sound with their own hands.
Probe works like a small exhibition: bring your synths, modules, effects and DIY devices — everyone can display their instrument so that other guests can try it out.
Program:
• open device table
• jam & bar
• presentations from three makers — a short performance, a talk about the concept and possibilities of their instruments, and an open hands-on session:
— Mad Sound Factory
— Microrack
— Quray
Each maker will show their instruments in action and let you test them yourself. All presentations will be held in English.
Headphones and adapters will be useful so you can comfortably test different devices.

“Designing Wavetable Oscillators and Samplers” — Lecture #4 of the Hybrid Modules course
In the final lecture of the course, we dive into the wavetable approach — one of the most flexible and expressive methods of synthesis in hybrid modules.
We’ll break down how a wavetable oscillator works: how the table of waves is constructed, how scanning and interpolation function, and what limitations and advantages hardware implementations have.
We’ll explore FM, AM, and PM modulation in the context of wavetable signals — how they differ, how they behave in real time, and what kinds of sonic structures they can create.
We’ll also cover the role of the sampler in hybrid systems: buffering principles, real-time playback, pitch control, loops, and modulation.
This lecture ties together the key topics of the course — architecture, real-time code, and signal processing — showing how all elements work together inside a modern hybrid module.
Nikolay Golikov — systems and embedded software engineer, artist, and experimental musician.
Required background:
— basic ability to read schematics
— basic understanding of C code
Language: Russian
Entry:
— 20 GEL with pre-registration
— 25 GEL on the day of the event
— 15 GEL for online streaming
