Was wondering why I don't remember fighting Shadow in DMC1, turns out I've accidentally skipped it.

Dmc5 feels easy
Recently got dmc5 after finishing dmc3, basically blitzed through it. I had almost no problems with any of the difficulties excluding hell and hell only giving me a small rush of excitement. I consistently felt like i didn't even have to try, i barely even noticed the difficulty changes. Planning to get dmc 1, 2 and 4 to rekindle my love for the game.

I played DMC 3, DMC 4, and DMC 5. How much lore did I miss by skipping DMC 1 and DMC 2?
Hey yall, DMC 3 was my entry to this series with my older brother. We both loved the dynamic between Dante and Vergil as well as the crazy action antics that have come to define the series. The narrative seemed to be really tight since 99% of the game takes place in the Tower. I didn’t really get a feel for the actual world of DMC.
I played DMC 4 to see how it ties into the Sparda family story and also expand upon the universe with Nero being added. I appreciated the bigger glimpse into the world.
I thought DMC 5 felt the most polished narrative wise and felt like a reasonable end to a trilogy started in DMC3.
I avoided DMC 1 and DMC 2 due to my age at the time (couldn’t buy them when they released), hearing that DMC 2 was the worst of the series, and also hearing that DMC 3 was better than both of the prior games (why go down in quality of experience?)
With that being said, is there a narrator experience that I’m missing out on by not playing these games personally? I understood the majority of the narrative with the games I played and lots of wikis/youtube videos have given me an idea of what the light novels might be like. I’d like to hear some thoughts on the matter.

Dmc4se intro got me confused
Hi I've started DMC4 after beating the 3 previous entries and the beginning got me confused about something. We see Dante in the first mission, and I just want to know if it's actually taking place after 2? Because in 2's epilogue he goes to Hell and doesn't come back by the end of the last cutscenes. Will I get an explanation later? Or is it just Dante came back but we don't know how? Avoid as much spoiler as possible please it's just confusing me and I don't want to be waiting for an explanation that maybe doesn't exist lol I just wanna know if there will be one or not
