Light is Green v0.8.0 released — native Xbox Cloud Gaming and Remote Play client for Nintendo Switch

Light is Green v0.8.0 is now available as the first stable release after the v0.7 preview series.

Credit first: this is a GPL-3.0 community fork of green-nx, originally created by rmrf404. The core project and original implementation remain their work. My contributions focus on extending and stabilizing the native Nintendo Switch client.

What it does

• Standalone Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) and Xbox Remote Play client for Nintendo Switch homebrew.

• Microsoft device-code authentication, WebRTC, hardware H.264 decoding, deko3d GPU rendering, Opus audio and controller input all run directly on the console.

• No companion PC is required.

What improved on the way to v0.8.0

• The library now combines entitled Game Pass titles with eligible Stream Your Own Game/BYOG and free-to-play cloud titles. It only displays titles Xbox reports as playable for the account; it does not mirror the full Xbox Store.

• A separate Owned & Free section preserves the correct Xbox offering when launching games and supports eligible free-only accounts.

• Connection recovery is faster. Silent xCloud DTLS media routes are retired in roughly six seconds in practice, and the next cloud allocation starts immediately after clean teardown.

• Region bypass and server-region selection are independent. The client can use Xbox's live datacenter list, including Chile Central and Brazil South when returned, with optional strict server forcing.

• Cover textures and artwork queues are capped to protect Switch memory. Video allocation pressure now triggers a controlled stream resynchronization instead of an unrecoverable failure.

• The old audio-buffer HUD value was replaced by actual PING: STUN round-trip time measured on the active WebRTC route.

• Remote Play remains available outside the local network through Xbox xHome when the console, account, NAT/Teredo and UDP route allow it.

• Steady, Smooth and Motion pacing modes remain available. Motion is still experimental; Smooth is recommended if visual instability appears.

Important notes

This software does not distribute games, bypass ownership or bypass Xbox subscriptions. Availability of Game Pass, BYOG and free-to-play titles is controlled by Xbox and varies by account and region. A modded Switch running Atmosphere is required, and the app should be launched in title mode for sufficient memory.

Feedback, technical testing and feature suggestions are welcome through GitHub issues. Please do not publicly upload stream-log.txt without reviewing it first because WebRTC diagnostics may contain network address candidates.

ZERODROID v0.8.2: native Boosteroid streaming client for Switch (H.264/deko3d, Opus, full controller input)

I've been working on ZERODROID, an open-source and unofficial Boosteroid client for Nintendo Switch homebrew. v0.8.2 is the first public beta under the new Zero Data identity, and the end-to-end path now works on hardware: QR login, library, machine allocation, video/audio and controller input.

Technical path:

\- C++17 with devkitA64/libnx.

\- SDL2 for the library/login UI, then deko3d for direct video presentation during a stream.

\- FFmpeg/libavcodec H.264 decoding and Opus audio.

\- libpeer with SRTP/SCTP for the streaming transport and a WebSocket signaling path.

\- Boosteroid device-code QR authentication; the saved session remains under sdmc:/switch/ZERODROID/.

\- Joy-Con/Pro Controller input, Nintendo/Xbox A-B-X-Y mapping, stick clicks as Guide, plus a touch Guide button and in-stream touch settings.

\- Live gateway RTT/ping measurement.

v0.8.2 adds native software-keyboard search, All/Favorites/Recently Played tabs, persistent local favorites/recent history, and Spanish/English UI selection. It also exposes Boosteroid's preferred-server and distant-region settings for eligible accounts.

This is a beta: service-side API changes can break an unofficial client, and title takeover is required because Album/applet mode does not provide enough memory. It requires a legitimate Boosteroid account and does not include games, Nintendo software, CFW, DRM bypasses or piracy-related material.

Hardware testing feedback is welcome, especially logs around regional allocation, packet loss/jitter, audio underruns and controller edge cases. Please remove personal information from logs before posting.

Stupid question, but is there any possible way to get game save data onto my PC and back without modding my switch?

I preface this with a notice: I am a broke college student and I absolutely cannot afford to get my switch modded nor can I buy an older switch to mod. Please don't tell me to, I am fully and completely aware that this is most likely a lost cause but I am staying hopeful. Please be empathetic to my cause; I am indeed kicking myself for selling my old switch a while back, my ego thought I'd never need to mod one.

Anyways, with Pokemon Bank being shut down next year, I'm looking into ways to get my Pokemon from 3DS to Switch while evading that. I am well experienced with messing with Pokemon saves, so I know everything else that I need to do to make it work. I just have an unmoddable Switch OLED that is, with preliminary googling, absolutely useless for this task. Is there any way at all to make it a little less useless? Can the saves be put on SD card, and edited from there? Is there some secret underground mod project that magically cracked the code to softmod these unmoddable switches? Or perhaps just a trick to make an emulator speak to my switch so I can mod the pokemon into an emulated game and just trade them to actual hardware?

Probably a lost cause, I know. I am incredibly aware of that. It's my own fault. But I am incredibly stubborn about it.
