FWIW The US Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land, and within the Constitution, states are recognized as sovereign entities, with the right and even obligation to defend themselves.

~Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3 of the Constitution defines a state's right to wage war only for "invasion" or when there is a clear and present "danger": "No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay."

~Moreover, 2A underscores a States right to use military force for the purposes of security: "A well regulated militia, being necessary for the security of a free State", not "security of Congress," or "security of the federal government", but the "Security of a free STATE".

~This was the reasoning behind the National Guard Act (the organized milita), which essentially created 50 state military organizations made up of local citizens (the unorganized milita), whose Commander and Chief is their respective Governor.

Among other things, their job is to defend the state against invasion, as defined in Article 1

Therefore, #GregAbbott_TX should authorize all 19K TX NG to replace barricades removed by feds, and most importantly, repurpose the Guard to police the air and ground along the border, and within border towns, state highways, etc, with the intent to to round up illegals.

He should also expand Operation Lone Star to include sending illegals back to not just to Mexico, but also to Central America, South America, Africa, and other parts of the world.
