According to data from the flight recorder both the fuel control switches, which are normally used to switch the engines on or off when on the ground, were moved from the run to the cutoff position shortly after takeoff. This caused both engines to lose thrust.

This caused confusion in the cockpit, with the voice recording catching one pilot asking the other why he “cut off” – The other pilot responded that he didn’t do it.

“The aircraft achieved the maximum recorded airspeed of 180 Knots IAS at about 08:08:42 UTC and immediately thereafter, the Engine 1 and Engine 2 fuel cutoff switches transitioned from RUN to CUTOFF position one after another with a time gap of 01 sec,” an excerpt from the report stated.

“The Engine N1 and N2 began to decrease from their take-off values as the fuel supply to the engines was cutoff.

“In the cockpit voice recording, one of the pilots is heard asking the other why did he cutoff. The other pilot responded that he did not do so.”

LATAM Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner making an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with its Ram Air Turbine (RAT) deployed.
This event occurred on July 31st, 2025 (or possibly August 1st, 2025, according to some reports).
The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, had been in a holding pattern over the Pacific Ocean for nearly an hour before returning to LAX.
The deployed Ram Air Turbine (RAT) is a small turbine that can be extended from an aircraft to provide emergency power in case of a main engine or generator failure.
Videos of the emergency landing, showing the deployed RAT, went viral on social media.

A statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding a technology issue that disrupted United Airlines' operations on August 7, 2025.

Here now details of the event based on the FAA statement and related information:

The Issue: United Airlines experienced a technology issue, later identified as a problem with its weight and balance computer system, disrupting mainline flights.

Impact: This led to ground stops for United flights at major U.S. airports like Denver, Newark, Houston, Chicago, and San Francisco, causing hundreds of delays and cancellations.
FAA Involvement: The FAA was aware of the disruption and offered full support to help United address the flight backlog and recover operations.

Resolution & Aftermath: United announced that the underlying technology issue was resolved, but residual delays were expected as the airline worked to restore normal operations.

Controllable Delay: United treated the incident as a controllable delay, meaning it would cover expenses like hotels for affected passengers when applicable.

No support from Indian govt': Families of Air India flight crash victims take Boeing Battle to US Courts

The victims families allege that Centre has not handed over a single piece of raw data, no clarity and no commitment. Only the dull echo of bureaucratic indifference.

The families of the victims in the AI-171 Air India crash are no longer waiting in silence. They demanded full access to the flight data recorder (FDR) and cockpit voice recorder (CVR). Without this, they say, no investigation official or independent can be trusted. Suspicion runs deep. What if the data is filtered? What if the truth is buried under corporate interests and state complicity?
