🫖 Food as Medicine: Recovery Tea
Overtrained, beat up from intense workouts, or fighting off a bug? This pot of tea helps calm inflammation, support immunity, and settle your stomach.
One-Pot Recipe (makes 4–5 cups — drink throughout the day):
• Large handful fresh mint leaves (about 15–20 leaves)
• 2 tsp turmeric powder
• ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
• 2–3 tsp real honey (add to taste after brewing)
• Juice of 2 lemons
• 3-inch piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced or grated
→ Add everything (except honey & lemon juice) to 1 liter of almost-boiling water.
→ Simmer gently for 8–10 minutes.
→ Remove from heat, stir in lemon juice and honey.
Why each ingredient helps recovery:
• Mint → soothes digestion & bloating
• Turmeric + black pepper → strong anti-inflammatory combo (pepper increases absorption dramatically)
• Ginger → reduces nausea, fights inflammation, aids circulation
• Lemon → vitamin C + antioxidants for immune support
• Honey → natural antibacterial, calms sore throat & cough

Trees have been planted by nature and humans on the Plains region since ancient times, making the region more livable for man and beast. While the Prairie States Forestry Project of Roosevelt’s New Deal administered the planting of almost a quarter-million acres of windbreaks over an eight-year period, many of these shelterbelts have been removed over time. That said, a fair amount of these historic shelterbelts remain across the prairie states, still providing good service to landowners.
This was not necessarily an original idea. European settlers on the Plains brought their tree-planting methods with them to their new homesteads after the Civil War. For instance, as early as 1885, a tree-planting project took place at South Dakota State University at Brookings, where students planted trees for shelterbelts on the campus during their spring term.

A study (1988) gave people the same drink twice — once ice-cold (4 °C) and once body temperature (37 °C).
Result:
The ice-cold version left the stomach significantly slower than the warm one (p < 0.05).
That means food sits longer instead of digesting properly → more bloating and that heavy feeling after eating.
Your stomach has to warm every drop back to 37 °C before it can even begin processing it. That slows everything down.

Particularly if it seems too fragrant or the smell sticks to you.
You know when you wash your hands and then smell the soap on your skin hours later?
No natural fragrance is that strong.
Petrochemicals & plastic-like polymers are used to make scents last longer.
Take for example a popular Australian 'Fruit Hair Conditioner'.
The name of the brand contains the word 'Organic', subconsciously implying to you that their products are clean.
The bottle says it's cruelty free, 100% vegan and plant derived.
The packaging says 'plant derived' but notice that according to the list below, only some ingredients are plant-derived.
Plant derived means they extract a substance from a plant and then use significant chemical processing to manipulate it.
The ingredients are as follows:
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol*, Cetrimonium Chloride*, Lecithin*, Macadamia Ternifolia (Macadamia Nut) Seed Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Protein, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Polyquaternium-10*, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Citric Acid*, Sodium Benzoate, Fragrance. *Plant Derived.
There's only one way to check how toxic this product is.
Look up each and every single ingredient. There are no shortcuts here.
Initially things look OK... Water, Alcohol, Oil, Protein...
Then you get to a synthetic preservative: Phenoxyethanol.
When you search these types of chemicals, you'll usually get the classic: Only toxic in 'high doses'.
The real question is: how toxic is it in low doses everyday for years?
🤔 Phenoxyethanol is also used in vaccines.
Next: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone
Three types of synthetic silicone. Used for smoothness and reducing frizz.
Yep that's right. Not silicon. Silicone. The same chemical you use to seal your kitchen bench 😂
