Beechat operates within ISM frequencies. ISM frequencies are license-free. So in legal terms, it's the same legality as your home router's radio waves, no license required at our output power. To answer your question, they can't turn Beechat off :) You are completely within your rights to use Beechat

Thanks again. Can I just ask again re Authorities ability to "turn it off" - I accept your assurance that it's legal (at present) to use, but that's not my concern - is it physically possible (legally or not) for some agency/authority to turn it off or block it if they decide to?
I'm not saying I won't buy it for that reason, I'm just interested in the bigger picture as regards freedom to communicate, and solutions to enable that.

The only way to stop transmission of any individual device is to turn it off manually, which would mean the attacker would need physical access to the device (your phone, or the roof of your house in the case of bridge nodes which we will release in the future).

A jammer could be used to temporarily interrupt radio transmissions, but this would have a widespread effect which would interfere with all types of signals, so it is not a likely scenario. The jammer would also jam the signals of the attacker, for example
