🇷🇺⚡️🇺🇦 Strakonstantinov Airbase in western Ukraine has reportedly been struck by Russian "Kinzhal" hypersonic missiles. Sources indicate that four F-16 fighter jets were destroyed on the ground during the attack.

Unlike Ukraine’s Soviet-origin fighters, the F-16 cannot deploy from airfields that are makeshift or otherwise less than perfect, which has placed greater limitations on the number of facilities which they can deploy from.

This was long expected to make the aircraft easier to target, and it certainly has.

PS: I had long speculated that the best way for the Russians to destroy wasn't to engage them. Because despite not receiving any "Body" upgrades in terms of avionics and sensors. These F-16s received an extremely advanced POD from the Israelis. That POD itself elevated the plane from a semi-useful Cold War plane to a deadly if used correctly platform. What the Russians did here was perfect. Why risk your valuable Air assets when you can obliterate them with cruise missiles.
