Lots of incredible tales of this particular battle. Also showed how important psychological warfare can be.
Indian Ground forces were advancing on Lahore and despite having air cover from their numerically superior Airforce, the PAF managed to do several low-altitude flybys right over the heads of the advancing columns. Of course several were bombed as well, but the sudden appearance of PAF Fighters in a supposed "Dominated" Airspace was troubling for officers leading the assault.
The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) earned significant credibility and respect within Pakistan's military and among international military analysts for its decisive defence of Lahore and other strategic areas during the conflict.
Its swift and powerful retaliation against India the following day further solidified its reputation as a formidable and reliable force.
The alertness of the air force was also related to the fact that some pilots were scrambled six times in less than an hour on indication of Indian air raids.
