Leaked visuals suggest the Rafale F5 will integrate conformal fuel tanks (1,150L), marking a return to a concept dropped by the French Air Force in 2001. The F5 standard will reportedly feature the new “T-Rex” engine replacing the current Safran M88, an upgraded RBE-2XG AESA radar with GaN tech, enhanced optronics, and new electronic warfare systems.
These upgrades align with the UCAS companion drone program launched in October 2024 and aim to keep the Rafale combat-relevant beyond 2060.
