Performance for Peace, EU Parliament, Leopold Park, Brussels, August 17, 2023:

The largest parliamentary visitor center in Europe is located in the building complex of the EU Parliament, which borders the Leopold Park. Just outside its main entrance, the portraits lean against the fence surrounding a sculptural flock of ostriches with their heads in the sand. It remains open whether this tactic, in the event of imminent danger, alludes to the behavior of EU citizens or the reaction of parliamentarians. In any case, a nice opportunity to encircle the representation of fear with courageous heads and to offer solutions: Courage to think critically and self-determined actions for peace and freedom.

Performance for Peace, EU Parliament, Leopold Park, Brussels, August 17, 2023:

The so-called "heart of democracy" is surrounded by the Leopold Park. A visitor to the Parliament and the Performance for Peace is stunned and upset that the butcher Leopold, who had thousands of people slaughtered in the Congo, was given the honor of adorning such a prominently located park with his name. She said that would be like still naming a park after Adolf Hitler next to the Reichstag in Berlin. Thank you Jackie for speaking up!

In the background you can hear the manifesto of the lateral thinking movement from the stage at the Victory Column, presented by the organizer Michael Ballweg: "Today I would like to read our manifesto of the lateral thinking movement again: We insist on the first 20 articles of our Basic Law. In particular Article 1: human dignity, human rights, legally binding fundamental rights. Article 2: Personal liberties. Article 4: Freedom of belief and conscience. Article 5: Freedom of opinion. Article 8: Freedom of assembly. Article 11: Freedom of movement. Article 12: Freedom of occupation. And Article 13: Inviolability of the home. We demand the immediate lifting of the restrictions on fundamental rights imposed by the Corona Ordinance and the resignation of the federal government.“
