In addition to the rarity of it in Japan (see 2nd image) a good example of how fallacious this theory is, is that troons don’t necessarily need an explicit hyper-idealized reference point for transgenderism. This is very evidenced by how many of them will try to mimic their wives, siblings, other family members or any attractive females they see, real or fake.

A friend of mine said something to the effect of:

extremely autistic people who worship drawn female characters at some point shift from "I want that" to "I want to be that".

I'd use a bit more nuance but yeah. But for the most part it's completely fallacious.
