Here's a conversation I recently had with a young man, named James, at work.

Text of the image above:

James: "Did you know the letter "J" did not exist until 1524?"

Julene: "Yes, but isn't it interesting that God in His divine providence decided to have the New Testament written in Greek, not Hebrew. Thus, nowhere in the Bible is Jesus referred to by a Hebrew or Aramaic name. Instead His name is written in Greek in the entire New Testament. Thus proving that God condones the translation of Jesus' name into Greek - Koine Greek to be exact, which was the "lingua franca" of the day ("lingua franca" meaning a language that is adopted as a common language between speakers whose native languages are different, as English is today).  Actually Koine Greek was the common man on the street's language; it was not the posh scholarly Greek, because God wants every person to hear His word, so He makes it simple. He doesn't require you to learn Hebrew and Greek and Aramaic, etc. He has made His Word available in all languages and every language has their own transaltion for "Jesus." Today's lingua franca is English and everyone knows who you are speaking of when you say "Jesus" - very few know who you are speaking of when you say "Yeshua."

You can say things to non-believers about "Yeshua" and no one will be offended, because almost no one knows who that is. Say "Jesus" and you will offend people, because they know exactly who you are talking about. What name do they use as a cuss word today? "Jesus." Not "Allah", not "Buddah", not "Krishna"... not "Yeshua." Because they know who they are cursing when they say "Jesus" in vain. What spirit is speaking through those people when they say "Jesus" as a curse word? The spirits of demons. Because demons know who "Jesus" is and they want to refer to him in a disrespectful way. As the Bible says, Satan is not divided against himself (a house divided against itself will fall) - Satan curses "Jesus" because he knows he is speaking against the Son of God written of in the Bible.

I use the name "Jesus" as everyone knows who I am speaking of because it's English (the lingua franca today). "Jesus" offends - "Yeshua" doesn't.

"32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household."
-- Matthew 10

I want all men to know who I am speaking of when I confess the Son of God. So I say "Jesus", because they know exactly who I am speaking of.

On that line of thought, your name, "James" is the English translation of "Iakobos" (the Greek transaltion of the Hebrew "Iakob" - the English transaltion of the Hebrew "Iakob" is "Jacob", which means "heel-catcher or supplanter"). Again, God in His divine providence had this name written in the lingua franca of that day, which is Greek (not Hebrew or Aramaic), in the New Testament- again, proving that God condones the translation of names."

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
