I was talking to a very close friend the other day who happens to be a die-hard Trump hater (I know what you are thinking, don’t ask). We unfortunately drifted into a “discussion” about the January 6 fiasco (and also don’t ask me why I bother). Time and time again, I run into this sort of thing—where the position on the left believes they are 100% right about any particular controversial topic.

Did AI just Evolve? I don’t think so.

On October 23, Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying, hosts of the DarkHorse podcast, reported the discovery, which is described in a pre-print paper (not peer-reviewed). Weinstein and Heying were spooked by the claim, supposing that this instance might be just the beginning. Soon LLMs might advance science too rapidly into unprecedented frontiers before proper cautionary measures can be taken.

After listening to the DarkHorse episode, I decided to look into this.

The Huntingdon Train Attack: Speculation and Further Questions

On Saturday Novembers 1st, ten people travelling on the 18.45 London North Eastern Railway (LNER) service from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, to London’s King’s Cross station were reportedly stabbed and later hospitalised.

At the time of writing, one man remains in a critical but stable condition following a knife attack on the train. Five people have been discharged from hospital and five remain. With the exception of the one critical patient, their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Donald Trump’s threat to sue the BBC for one billion dollars is yet another fake division intended to prop up the make-believe “sides” in the political debate.

Off the Grid

When people talk about “getting off the grid,” the image that usually springs to my mind is the full-on pioneer fantasy: selling the house, buying 40 acres in the bush, installing solar panels, drilling a well, raising chickens, and growing enough potatoes to survive the next ice age.
