Male deities played a role in fertility rites in addition to female deities. My husband and I had a discussion about how man is the farmer & woman the soil. She can’t bring forth life without him. He lights the spark, sows the seed, and protects the saplings from the ravaging forces of nature. But, the soil is where the magick happens. It is a mysterious sort of alchemy that induces awe, respect, and must be nurtured and protected for the growth and health of the entire tribe. I truly believe that men saw this as their sacred duty.

In fact, the Slavic deity Makosh or Makosha is referred to as “moist Mother Earth” and associated with good and fertile soil. We know from folkloric accounts of Russian peasants that reverence for “moist Mother Earth” carried on into very recent times universally among men, women, and even the Russian Orthodox clergy! And, Thor's lightning bolt can be seen as his own fertility aspect.

Even where you have a situation in Teutonic culture where only the men go to the Thing to decide on matters of tribal governance, I don’t view this through an Abrahamic lens of one gender’s dominance over the other.

This was simply the sacred duty of the men and how they played their role of importance to the tribe. It wasn’t because the women were less intelligent or in any way inferior to the men.

Both genders had elevated and sacred roles which were equal, yet specific to their abilities and skill set.

(As an aside, it’s also been noted that Teutonic men weren’t especially bothered about a woman who was good at a typically male activity joining in, but they had a very low opinion of a man engaging in female activities).

Finished an essay on what we learn from birds on race, in-group preference, mate selection, and gender norms.

It opens with animals as spirit totems who reach out to us with symbolic meaning at times in our lives.

The clinching point is about how only humans are manipulated by ideology that takes us away from being guided by instinct.

MIXED BREEDS “HEALTHIER” THAN PUREBREEDS DEBUNKED

Spotted an article on dog health which mentions a new comprehensive study debunks the idea that mutts are healthier than purebreds due to “genetic diversity.”

This matters because I just had seen reporting somewhere about ads in Scandinavia urging Scandis to breed out with migrants and it used the trope about mixed breed dogs as reasoning!

“The team also found the median lifespan for pure breeds was longer than for crossbreeds, at 12.7 years and 12 years respectively, a result that is at odds with the idea that crossbreeds might be healthier because they have greater genetic diversity.”

Very interesting that when this video mentions global populations, East Asian and Arab women are less likely to be favorable to dating black men than white women.

I have seen this shift in my own lifetime. When I was young, it was very looked down upon to date outside of your race although White and East Asian mixing was always given more of a pass. (Although interesting that "yellow fever" was not a thing before the 1980s or 1990s and I've seen John Lennon be upset in interviews at public reaction to his relationship with Yoko and cruel things said about her in print media because a public mixed relationship like that was so unusual at the time).

Anyway, I've seen the shift before my very eyes. It can only be down to a massive media and educational indoctrination campaign whereby exclusive heteroracial dating is judged as racist and the media is elevating black men to fetish levels.

I also notice it seems worse in UK. Ever since the 1990s I observed that you rarely saw white men date black women in America but you would see it with more regularity in UK. On British media you see white women going on about black men who are objectively not handsome men but they seem to be desperate for virtue signal points so they act like he's some prince.

Another thing you see a LOT in the UK is sex tourism. Middle aged white male perverts heading to Thailand and middle aged white female slags heading to Turkey and Africa. Zero sympathy and a good laugh when they all get SCAMMED.

Anyway, it's just interesting to see a black man analyzing it. He points out that African cultural norms legitimately don't meet the mate selection standards expected by Europeans and Asians and it's as much reputational as it is a physical rejection.

I used to love the aesthetic of the Middle Ages. But, at some point, the penny drops that what we really love are the Romantic Era artists such as the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.

Artists such as John William Waterhouse gave us inspired art depicting an idealized view of the medieval past. Yet, most of the themes were actually Pagan. Brythonic Pagan origins was one favorite theme of Waterhouse and other Pre-Raphaelite artists.

The art produced during periods when Christianity was still the dominant force in Europe, when the Catholic Church commissioned the art that survives from the period, the art is, to put it bluntly, ugly. It is boring, uninspired, lifeless art.

Depictions of the Middle Ages became vibrant, romantic, mystical and magical when the era was viewed through a lens by later periods which had more spiritual freedom.
