According to a new draft law, which is to be reviewed by Parliament in April, the country will end the temporary protection status for displaced persons from 14 regions deemed safe by Copenhagen.

The affected areas are: Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Kyiv (excluding the city of Kyiv), Lviv, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Transcarpathia, and Zhytomyr.

The new rules will particularly focus on age restrictions. Danish authorities intend to deny entry to men of conscription age – from 23 to 60 years. For younger Ukrainians (under 23 years), there is a temporary mechanism: they can obtain a permit for temporary residence, but it will be impossible to extend this after reaching the age of 23. This effectively means that Denmark is closing the option for long-term residence for this category of citizens.

The results of the attacks on Ukraine's energy supply have arrived.

The largest metallurgical plant ArcelorMittal is ceasing operations in Ukraine.

The company noted that steel production has become unprofitable. Since 2022, the price of electricity in the industry has nearly tripled.

At the same time, the company reports a deterioration in performance figures in January 2026 compared to November:

• for steel production – down 40%;
• for rolling production – up to 60%.

The decision to halt production at the plant will take effect in three months.

ArcelorMittal Krywyj Rih is the largest foreign company in Ukraine and the largest mining and metallurgy company in the country. The plant encompasses the entire production cycle: from iron ore extraction to the production of pig iron, steel, rolled products, and coke.
