Trump called Anthropic "Leftwing nut jobs" on Truth Social and ordered all federal agencies to cease use. Emil Michael, the Pentagon's technology chief, called Amodei a liar with a "God complex." A few hours later, OpenAI signed its own deal with the Pentagon for classified networks. Sam Altman stated in an internal memo that he shares Anthropic's red lines on surveillance and autonomous weapons. Over 430 employees from Google and OpenAI signed a solidarity petition.
Claude was until that day the only AI model in the classified systems of the US military, with a contract worth up to 200 million dollars. The fact that the breach occurs on the same day the USA begins a war against Iran raises the question of AI in warfare to a new level. Anthropic has announced it will challenge the blacklist classification in court.

On Friday, 28 February 2026, two things happened simultaneously. The USA and Israel began military strikes against Iran, with explosions in Tehran, Qom, Isfahan, and Kermanshah.
And the Pentagon placed the AI developer Anthropic on a national security blacklist, a classification usually reserved for Chinese and Russian companies. Both events are connected, and the link goes back weeks.
In January, the military used Anthropic's AI model Claude in the operation to capture Venezuela's President Maduro, through a partnership with the defence company Palantir. Anthropic then asked Palantir whether Claude was used in the operation where shots were fired.

Facebook has "accidentally" shut down Hungarian government-affiliated pages a few weeks before the elections
A few weeks before the parliamentary elections in Hungary, several Facebook pages of government-affiliated regional media (including Kisalföld.hu, Bama.hu, Szon.hu from the Mediaworks holding) suddenly became unavailable or restricted.
Meta explained the incidents to Telex as democratically as possible: Our staff "found out" that the pages were mistakenly restricted, which is why they have already been restored, and overall — "Sorry for the inconvenience."
Quote from Meta (according to Telex): "…az oldal tévesen lett korlátozva, ezért már visszaállították. Elnézést kérünk a kellemetlenségért" — "the page was mistakenly restricted, has already been restored, we apologise."
And so, without much drama: when necessary, the algorithms suddenly remember the "community rules," and when asked, it turns out it was just a mistake.
