The first public alpha version of the NFT Worlds launcher will be released this week. This is a core / baseline version of the launcher.
The launcher is currently supported on windows, macOS and linux systems.
The launcher as it is in alpha form means you no longer have to separately install Minecraft or figure out how to install Java. Graphics are automatically updated for you. Browsing worlds and swapping between them is ultra fast now as well. Your $WRLD balance is reflected right on your account. This is just the start and is "alpha" version functionality.
Significant updates and improvements are planned to continue to roll out this month and in the coming months, this includes the following updates you can expect in the future for the launcher beyond what you see in the alpha demo video attached.
Launcher Updates Roadmap
- Polished & updated user interface more in line with the long term vision of NFT Worlds
- Further updated graphics significantly improved beyond what's initially shown. These graphic updates are enabled by default based on your system parameters.
- Updated settings & account management pages, for managing your account, managed wallet, avatars, connected wallet and more.
- Portals mechanics and systems. We've implemented a special network packets system to enable the portals system - allowing worlds to finally cross collaborate and instantly teleport players to other worlds based on actions they take or if they enter specific portals/areas in a world.
- Custom 3D avatar system for NFT Worlds, this is what the genesis avatars, gray boys & community avatars are built on top of.
- Avatars wardrobe system for selecting an avatar (or gray boy) you own that you want to play as, and equipping any cosmetic items that you may also own.
- Avatars marketplace for buying, selling and trading NFT Worlds avatars (after they launch) - using $WRLD
- NFT Worlds item marketplace systems for all worlds, allowing players to buy/sell/trade NFT items they earn in the different worlds they play for $WRLD. Our items system coming in the future will simplify rewarding players with NFTs in-game based on quests, experiences, participation or tasks they complete.
- Friends system for seeing what friends are currently online and what world they're playing in with quick-join support to start playing with friends immediately.
- Player trading system to trade $WRLD / NFTs in a secured manner between other players in the NFT Worlds ecosystem, directly from the launcher
- Updated world details pages, more akin to an app-store style presentation to fully browse and preview worlds prior to joining them from the main launcher page, and also find their social media & website information to learn more about a world.
- World specific item marketplaces where worlds can offer NFTs specific to their worlds for sale directly through the launcher in exchange for $WRLD. This is great for selling things like event passes, special items & cosmetic perks, and more.
- Filter, sort & favorite support for finding new worlds or quickly favoriting worlds you play most to easily find & join them when you start up NFT Worlds
- In-game transaction confirmations to remove all final friction of transacting $WRLD & buying/selling/trading NFTs in game, no need to go to the nftworlds.com/pay page anymore, just hit a simple tx confirmation through an in-game popup to spend your $WRLD or confirm related transactions.
- More as we go, but this should give you a clear idae of how significant we view the launcher in being the glue of the NFT Worlds ecosystem as it's quickly developed further.
