As we've repeatedly mentioned, 95% of this bill is NOT a serious issue - it's an extension to what ALREADY EXISTS right now & allows for things like the Supreme Court to legally run trials virtually, aka the trial we all watched last week.
The amendments they are proposing though MUST get publicly debated, scruitinised and (obviously) thrown out and this is an actual route to do this.

Many of you with whom I have spoken have stated plainly you have received more correspondence and communication from angry Victorians about the SOE and Omnibus bills than any other pieces of legislation in their respective political careers.

THAT IS BECAUSE VICTORIAN KNOW THESE ARE HORRIBLE AND UNDEMOCRATIC PROPOSALS THAT THE VAST AND OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF VICTORIANS REJECT.

YOU DO NOT HAVE THE MANDATE FOR SUCH GROSSLY OVERREACHING POWERS.

IT IS THEREFORE INCUMBENT ON YOUR TO REFLECT THE WILL OF THE VAST MAJORITY OF VICTORIAN AND REJECT THIS BILL IN ITS ENTIRETY.

A fundamentally different approach to management of this virus is required and demanded by the overwhelming majority of Victorians. In my daily conversations with friends, family and colleagues I know NOBODY still in support of these insane and disproportionate restrictions.

Search and seizure without warrants, powers of PSO's and Police to "order... actions" and powers of interrogation, all on some flimsy basis of reducing "risk to public health", are all frankly disgusting.

There are many comprehensive plans (like the state government's original plan), and alternatives such as those described below that do not need ANY of these totalitarian measures proposed:

There is no context in which it's acceptable to include such powers. The labour party of Victoria has lost the plot, and the faith, and trust, from the Victorian community and we do not trust ANY more claimed powers, or their judgement of what is "SAFE" or unsafe for us.
