Vladimir Putin held a videoconference meeting with Government members
Development of checkpoints across Russia's state border was the main topic on the agenda. Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev and Head of the Federal Customs Service Valery Pikalyov delivered reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov briefed the President on the situation with forest fires in Russia's regions and the relief efforts in the wake of spring floods. Over 420,000 people received aid payments totaling 11 billion rubles. The average sum of money received by flood victims has been increased by half.
Minister of Construction, Housing, and Utilities Irek Faizullin provided an update on the progress of construction and restoration of housing in flooded areas. The President emphasised the importance of wrapping up restoration work before the onset of cold weather.
Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova spoke about the Great Concert Tour project. 268 theatres — close to half of all the theatres in Russia — are taking part in the programme. Moreover, Russian performance troupes will stage events in 22 countries. Additionally, 24 theatre companies hailing from Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and South Ossetia will visit Russia.
Labour Minister Anton Kotyakov presented on the employment situation as well as the results of the Russian Employment Fair. At present, Russia has a record-low unemployment rate of 2.6 per cent, as the number of employed people increased to 74.1 million this year.
Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev briefed the meeting on the results of the BRICS Games in Kazan as well as a number of other sporting events. Russia has made a proposal to also hold the annual, open format SCO Games.
