Attualmente ha eletto il nuovo Pixel di Google come miglior cameraphone di sempre. Però c'è chi non ci sta. In Asia sono molto popolari le catene di negozi con articoli di vario genere, di catene come 7Eleven. Per sfruttare questo canale, usato anche dai grandi della logistica ad esempio per raccogliere e consegnare pacchetti, adesso ci si è messa anche la biblioteca nazionale di Taiwan che inaugura il prestito dai convenience store. Il cloud non è sicuro. La internet delle comunicazioni che disloca le informazioni dall'apparecchio del loro utilizzatore (detto in altri termini: i dati non sono più nel vostro computer/tablet/telefono ma nel cloud) è a forte rischio. L'innovazione è una cosa completamente diversa da quella che ci stiamo raccontando, soprattutto nel settore delle nuove tecnologie. Il genio solitario, il campione capace di rivoluzionare tutto con il solo sforzo del suo carattere fuori del comune è un mito, così come quello dell'inventore che dal suo garage o dal suo laboratorio crea la follia rivoluzionaria prossima ventura.

Sono da tre lustri circondato da innovatori e non ho capito fino in fondo come funziona questo meccanismo, perché ci sono tante strade e potenti narrazioni dominanti che piegano le menti a un mito collettivo utile per tanti versi. Diciamo meglio: una storiella sulle magnifiche e progressive sorti dell'innovazione che fa molto comodo a tutti eppure disegna qualcosa di molto lontano dalla realtà. Inoltre, non mi sono piaciuti i due libri che ho letto di Walter Isaacson ("Gli Innovatori" e "Steve Jobs") tra l'altro anche per questo motivo.

Abbiamo fortemente bisogno di una narrazione diversa, sia da un punto di vista storico che sociale, oltre che tecnologico. Una storia capace di far emergere chiaramente le correnti carsiche del nostro tempo: altrimenti non capiamo chi siamo e cosa stiamo facendo.

Decidere di avere figli è un atto che sfugge le ragioni dell'etica, perché non è sostenibile che sia lo stato o la religione a scegliere per noi se si debbano avere o no figli (con buona pace delle campagne di fertilità del nostro governo).

Non è neanche una scelta priva di significato, però. Attiene invece alla sfera della morale, cioè del giudizio etico proiato, del singolo.

In questa sfera, molte cose si possono dire ma in buona sostanza il centro è pur sempre comune (ed è un problema tutto laico ed occidentale): se la vita è bella e gioiosa oppure orribilmente piena di sofferenze. A seconda dei casi, abbiamo il diritto di creare dal niente un figlio e condannarlo a vivere e poi morire come noi?

Money quote: "Yes, you can expect your child’s life to contain happiness, satisfaction, joy and love. But many would see an asymmetry here all the same. You might think that it’s more important not to harm people than it is to positively help them. Some would go further still, and suggest that we have no intrinsic moral reason to bring more happy lives into existence (such a choice is morally neutral, they claim), whereas we clearly have strong moral reasons to not create an utterly miserable life.
