In the aftermath of a fiery Ohio train derailment, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg’s department has not moved to reinstate an Obama-era rail safety rule aimed at expanding the use of better braking technology, even though a former federal safety official recently warned Congress that without the better brakes, “there will be more derailments [and] more releases of hazardous materials.”

Instead, transportation regulators have been considering a rail-industry-backed proposal that could weaken existing brake safety rules. Buttigieg, who heads the Department of Transportation that oversees the railroads, has not said anything yet about the Ohio train derailment.

This is the current homepage of the FDA website. It acts like a cheerleading/marketing arm of pharma companies, not a regulatory agency. By promoting these shots, it has (among other reasons) hopelessly conflicted itself from later admitting these products have serious issues.

Ironically, this FDA ad for C19-V Bivalent violates its own EUA which requires stating it "has not been approved or licensed by the FDA" but only "authorized for emergency use" because not yet found (by even FDA standards) to be safe and effective!

The real death plume’s the one in the ground water. The burn was local officials called "mitigation." That’s how bad the spill was.

Vinyl chloride is highly toxic. This crash in Ohio had 5 train cars with the capacity to hold 25- 33k gallons or 250k lbs of vinyl chloride... that's PER TRAIN CAR. There were 5 train cars. Roughly 1 million pounds of this toxic chemical spilling into the ground and also spewing boiling gas into the air.

Reports have failed to mention that one of the many by-products of burning vinyl chloride is hydrogen chloride. Hydrogen chloride is really unstable and latches onto water, including water vapor in the atmosphere, and turns into hydrochloric acid. So right now government officials and officials from the railroad are calling burning off a million lbs of this stuff "a success," while failing to mention that it means that we have hundreds of thousands of pounds of acid in the air... "potentially."

FRIDAY THE EPA RELEASED AN OFFICIAL LETTER THAT PROVES THEY DIDN'T DISCLOSE ALL THE INFORMATION:
1. There were 3 additional hazardous chemicals that were never disclosed:
— Vinyl Chloride (we knew about)
— Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether
— Ethylhexyl acrylamide (carcinogen)
— Isobutylene (Explosive petrochemical-rated a 4 in flammability)
— Butyl acrylate
"...are known to have been, AND CONTINUE TO BE, released into the air, surface soils, and surface waters"

"...AND CONTINUE TO BE..."

2. They found polluted water in more places than they disclosed originally
3. They observed chemical run off into storm drains
4. They haven't released the results of the water tests since the 4th!
5. They BURIED the contaminants underneath the railroad:
"Contaminated soil and free liquids were observed and potentially covered and/or filled during reconstruction of the rail line..."
All so that they could get #NorfolkSouthernRailways trains running again as fast as possible.

A F-16 fighter jet downed the octagon-shaped object over Lake Huron at an altitude of 20,000 feet, the WSJ reports.
