Y'know, initially I wanted to sort of play the devil's advocate and say that the feature has its uses to prevent harassment (you know how fucking vapid twitter users can be) but it's very hard to defend when the company itself uses it this way.

It does have some legitimate uses, still. I'm sure some cereal brands are very tired of furry porn in their replies.
