Simin Daneshvar (April 28, 1921 - March 8, 2012) was a famous Iranian female novelist & translator. She was the first Iranian woman who wrote stories professionally in Persian. Her most important book is the novel "Savushun" which has simple prose & has been translated into 17 languages. "Savushun" is one of the best-selling works of fiction in Iran. Daneshvar, along with his wife Jalal Ale Ahmed, was a member of the Writers’ Association of Iran & was elected as the president of the "Writers’ Association of Iran" in its first election in March 1968.

Father of Iranian Statistics:
Dr. Abbasgholi Khajehnouri (1915-1993), Iranian professor & researcher, is famous as the father of Iranian statistics. He was born in Tehran & graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture in 1937. He received his PhD in statistics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Paris in 1956. Dr. Khajehnouri founded the Institute of Higher Education in Statistics in 1966 & introduced the sampling method based on the probability theory & statistical inference in Iran.
