It’s one of the largest brick & clay buildings in Iran, which is located near Esfarayen in North Khorasan. Having an area of over 180 hectares, it includes a collection of historical monument such as the remains of the citadel & the moat around it, Sharestan (the central part of the city) which includes: the tower & rampart, the mausoleum of Sheikh Azari, the ruins known as Menar-tappeh (the Great Mosque), pottery kiln, reservoir, bazaar (market), caravanserai, a building known as Yakhdans (a cold place for saving meet & vegetables & ice) & a vast cemetery near the eastern gate.
The most intact & also the most prominent structure left on the remains of Belqeys City is the citadel which has 29 towers with a height of about 11 meters, & is one of the largest ancient castles in Iran, which has a large adobe & layered structure.

He was one of the prominent figures of Shias in Kufa and one of the companions of Imam Ali (PBUH) who came out of Kufa and joined Imam Hussain (PBUH) before the arrival of the army of Hurr. He was martyred in the first attack on the day of Ashura.
