Working on Regional Variants of the Yamnaya Culture.

The map is soon complete, however i am very unsatisfied with the Site-Density in Ukraine and Russia. I was able to find much material for Hungary and Moldova as you can see by the site density. No doubt it is similar for Ukraine and Russia but i do not speak either of those languages and have not been able to find books or articles with site maps.

If you speak or are Russian or Ukranian and have PDFs or Links, please DM me.

📌 GOOD NEWS FOR EVERY MAPTIST WITH AN ACTIVE PAGE

We're taking this channel out of its winter slumber with some good news for those of you who actively run a page in this niche.

If you follow us on 𝕏, you may have noticed that we've started branching into reconstructions to run parallel to our maps and map animations, aiming to make them more visual and accessible.

The response has been far larger and more positive than expected. Thank you all very much.

Because of this, we have decided to license these reconstructions under CC BY 4.0.

👀 WHAT THIS MEANS

All original non-map content (including images, assets, and video) produced under the Maptism umbrella is now:

- Free to use
- Free to edit & remix
- Free to redistribute
- Commercial use allowed

CC BY 4.0 technically requires attribution to Maptism, or either of our accounts (Maptysk, haplogroupthink).

That being said, we do not expect or enforce attribution for casual short-form or social media edits (TikTok / 𝕏 / Reels / similar).

For academic, scholarly, institutional, archival, documentary, video essay, or publication uses, reasonable attribution to Maptism is expected.

We don't really care if @Tvran_karaboga_1071 on TikTok crops out a watermark, lol.
If you do spot such an edit out in the wild, feel free to let us know!
Content remixing is good and welcome. Information wants to be free.

Happy poasting!

THREAD: THE MARKOMANNIC EMPIRE
While not fully stratified, An Argument can be made that the First Germanic Empire is Marobodus' Empire, 9bc-18ad.

This was a Tribal Confederation, although Marobodus explicitly Proclaimed himself as the King of the other Tribes under him, much to the contempt of the Semnones and Langobardi.
The Markomanni were by far the most Powerful and Stratified Tribe in Germania, and through being close friends with Rome, formed a large federation of mostly Economic Basis, which greatly Enriched the Markomanni and their Allies.

Depicted on the map are Specific types of Almgren Fibula associated with the Markomanni and their Trade Network, as well as the Tribes described as being part of Marobodus' Empire.

NEW VIDEO ALERT!

The incredible Veksø Helmets from Bronze Age Denmark amazed the world when they were discovered.

But were they used for ceremonies or for warfare? Who wore them and what can they tell us about the Bronze Age world?

Happy New Year everyone! Please share this video! Thank you

👀 Licensing for Maps

The Licensing Situation for the Maps is mostly the same as the Reconstructions, however Maps will be under CC BY-NC 4.0 instead of just CC BY 4.0. This means:

- Free to use
- Free to edit & remix
- Free to redistribute
- Commercial use not allowed without permission

Like the reconstructions, this technically requires proper attribution, however we don't expect it if smaller accounts or tiktok editors reuse our Content.

For Academic or Commercial use of Maptism Maps, please contact either on Twitter or on [email protected].
