I don’t understand Raycast
i read raycast so often lately, i went to the page and went through it. while i of course can read, i’m not sure i grasp it. while i understand that this has potential especially for me (i love and invent workflows and stuff that makes things faster and fluid), i really can’t easily come up with a usecase i really do see. … and i thought i‘m smart. Not so sure right now. Care to gimme some ELI5?

Is there an app to know all the shortcuts assigned to my system?
As the title says looking for an app that tells me all the shortcuts assigned to my mac like all the third party apps that are not included with fresh mac. Recently I assigned cmd+space to the app Highlight AI and it overwrote the shortcut for finder, similarly I have many apps so looking for an app which tells me all the shortcuts at one place.Tried KeyClu but it only gives me the system shortcuts.

PerVolume – Control volume per-app MacOS
Hey r/macapps 👋
I’m the developer behind PerVolume, a macOS app I’m currently finishing up.I started working on it because I kept running into the same issue: one app would be way too loud, another barely audible, and changing system volume affected everything at once. This happened constantly during calls or while multitasking, and it got annoying enough that I decided to build my own solution.PerVolume lets you control volume per app on macOS, independently and in real time.I’ve attached a short 20-second video demo with sound showing how it works.https://reddit.com/link/1qjbqj6/video/tutzvzatyreg1/playerMost alternatives feel either over-engineered or outdated. I focused on keeping PerVolume simple, lightweight, and fast. No complex setup, no extra features you don’t need, just quick per-app volume control that stays out of the way.A few additional notes:Works on macOS starting from Big SurRuns locally on your MacI’m actively collecting feedbackI’d really appreciate input from people here:Would this be useful in your daily workflow?Does anything feel missing or unclear from the demo? How do you currently handle different app volumes on macOS?I’m planning a one-time purchase (no subscription): $10I’m also thinking about giving 50% off promo codes to people who reach out before release — curious what you think about that idea.More details and contact info are on the site:
👉 https://pervolume.online/Thanks for reading, and happy to answer questions.

Syncing an Encrypted Database between Mac and iPhone
Assuming that I'm syncing an encrypted database for the first time from Mac to iPhone, is the following correct:The database is opened/decrypted on the Mac and syncs with end-to-end encryption while in transit. The files sync to a new database created on the iPhone, but it will not be an encrypted database. The database on the Mac will remain an encrypted database.

What are the best options out there for USB installers?
Looking for solid USB installer for my Mac, specifically the kind that works with all iso files (ie: Linux distros)When I search for this I end up with a bunch of USB installers that are specifically for burning macOS images, which isn't what I want. Can anyone point me in the right direction? My go-to was Etcher a few years back but from some recent posts it seems like they're now considered sketchy

RSS + Read Later App?
I feel like i've got a fairly decent pulse on various apps out there but i'm struggling to find something that solves a particular need of mine.I've previously used Reeder and while the new app is gorgeous and works perfectly fine, there's also tons of times where i'd like to add a number of one-off articles i've come across but haven't found a way to do that yet.So is there any app that combines both the ability to set specific feeds as well as individual links? That isn't Readwise, that is as i'm not interested in it at their current price point. I've looked at things like GoodLinks, Lire, ReadKit, and similar apps but they all either fall short of offering both it seems. Some like ReadKit allow adding links but only via the share sheet, and as i do most of my browsing via the desktop browser and Zen browser, i'm not really inclined to use the share sheet. Is there something out there that has something like an extension or clipper but also supports RSS?

Virtual Machine on MAC
Hi, I'm a SAP programmer on Mac and I need to upgrade my virtual machine to use SAP. It's possible to do so on Mac, but it's a very limited version. So far, I've been using Parallels, which integrates very well, but it's a paid service. I've paid for a year and it's about to expire. What do you recommend? I've heard a lot about UTM.I have a Mac Book Air m4 with 24 RAM and 500 GB of memory.

I built a work management app for devs because I kept losing track of my notification
Hey all, I wanted to share this because I actually use it.I kept missing important stuff buried across Slack DMs, Jira tickets assigned to me, and Confluence mentions. Constantly switching between apps and tabs was killing my focus. So I built Action Inbox - a macOS menu bar app that pulls everything actionable into one place. What it does:Aggregates pings, mentions, and reactions from SlackShows Jira issues assigned to you or where you're mentionedCatches Confluence comments and mentionsSmart prioritization (direct mentions/assignments surface first)Snooze stuff for later, mark done, bulk actionsAll data stays local on your Mac (no server storing your messages or any personal data)It sits in your menu bar and syncs in the background. One click to see what actually needs your attention.Would love feedback from anyone dealing with notification overload at work. I'm using this daily myself at work and it has helped me stay on top of all the work without overloading myself with other software like motion etc.I just put it as 5 bucks a month but I'm looking to extend the free trial a bit longer for early adaptors. Let me know if you have any questions!IMPORTANT:I didn't purchase the Apple Developer thing that costs $99/year so you will need to run a command once to run the app. More detail on the website.my bad demo...Link here: https://action-inbox.app
