Considering that I am downloading the whole movie every time anyway, would it be possible to just transcode it to something HLS-friendly (or maybe even skip the HLS and use some other format) to watch movies right from the server? Cause I could totally just upsize the VPS and fit 10-ish gigs of video on disk and stream it without involving my network in any way.

I would need some hybrid solution that could switch between playing a local file and playing RTMP stream from my computer. I wonder if such a thing even exists.
