I just a fun Lightning moment which I thought I would share. Maybe somebody here can explain exactly what the fuck happened.
New phone (I am well into transitioning to GrapheneOS full time). Bought some BTC at bitcoin ATM and sent to Wallet of Satoshi - about $100 worth.
Thought "I should try non custodial Lightning again, be a good citizen". I had Phoenix wallet installed from an earlier experiment (about $100 in there too) and thought "OK, I'll move it all there.
So, in WoS I selected "send all" or similar, via Lightning. It selected some fee, sat trying for a bit and said "failed but we will keep trying". That was last night. Checked in the morning and it failed and so funds were back in WoS.
Went to the Phoenix wallet to check and it was empty. Wtf.

Some channel close happened and sucked up the funds left in Phoenix. All of it. Like $100 gone. Good thing it was only play money.
So ... an unsuccessful Lightning transfer can make the *recipient* lose money as a result of behind the scenes channel management in their wallet?

"The Lightning Network, which was initially developed for real-time payments of “decentralized money,” has currently evolved into a business landscape where currently custodial LN solutions are taking center stage."
