This strange-looking installation is a movable public toilet.
The Throne is a 3D-printed toilet intended to provide accessible sanitation for people in remote areas, refugee settlements, and urban slums. It has a streamlined teardrop shape and was made mainly from discarded single-use plastic from medical facilities. The team used a commercial composting toilet for hygienic reasons. They enlarged the interior to give users more room to move around, where users can also find a shelf for toilet paper, a phone holder, and a container of wood chips to eliminate odors.
Spanish studio Nagami designed the Throne for social enterprise https://To.org Foundation. The toilet is installed in Gstaad in the Swiss Alps in August 2021. To further commercialize the idea, the team still needs to reduce the production costs. This strange-looking installation is a movable public toilet.

Did you know spiders have ‘beans’? 🫘 They’re actually tarsal pads at the tips of their legs—tiny claw-like structures that help them grip surfaces and climb walls. Not real beans, but just as cool! 🕷️
