🔻In 2024, Children's Day is celebrated for the 74th time. The idea itself was announced in 1949 at the Paris session of the International Democratic Federation of Women.

🔻The holiday is celebrated in more than 60 countries around the world.

🔻The prerequisites for establishing an important date were the difficulties that children faced after the Second World War. Many of them lost their parents and shelter and were forced to wander, beg and steal in order to survive.

🔻The congress participants considered it necessary to develop mechanisms that could protect children.

It is unbearably painful to see and know that children are suffering in the areas of hostilities in the Donbass, in the Gaza Strip... This shouldn't have happened in the 21st century!

🔻Both adverbs are synonyms with the meaning 'again' but there's a slight difference:

'Опять' is repeating an action exactly and ultimately obtaining the same outcome as in the original action. 

'Снова' is repeating the action from the beginning and ultimately obtaining a new result.

💢 There's a colloquial saying which is usually used in response to someone's replica with the word 'опять' (like: 'Ты опять начинаешь ругаться/жаловаться? Do you start arguing/complaining again?):

• Не опять, а снова!
  [ni a-pyat' a sno-va] 

A new result of an action must be meant here, but it is mostly a popular joke.

💢 You can also say about a difficulty which appears regularly and can not be solved in any other way except by making fun of it:

• Опять двадцать пять!
  [a-pyat' dvat-tsat' pyat']
  SLT: Again twenty-five!

Meaning:
To feel envious, to be significantly worse than someone or something, to be or do something much worse than someone else.

Origin:
The etymology of the expression 'Нервно курит в сторонке' refers to a television picture where the coach of the losing team first shouts angrily, and then 'withdraws into himself' and, trying to be unnoticed, hastily smokes on the edge of the field.

Example:
• Посмотрите, что нарисовала моя пятилетняя дочка! Леонардо да Винчи нервно курит в сторонке!
[pa-smat-ri-te, shto na-ri-sa-va-la ma-ya pi-ti-let-nyi-ya doch-ka! Li-a-nar-da da Vin-chi ner-vna ku-rit f sta-ron-ke]
