🇱🇷 Liberian authorities burned $317 million worth of cocaine as senior police officials were implicated.

In a raid on a property in #Duazon, roughly 17 miles from the capital city of Monrovia, Liberian authorities seized nearly four metric tons of cocaine, with an estimated street value of around $317 million.

Described as the country’s largest drug bust ever, the seizure was linked to a sophisticated transnational trafficking network. The cocaine was reportedly bound for Europe, which is consistent with West Africa’s role as a major transit hub for South American cocaine destined for European markets. It is estimated that at least 30% of Europe-bound cocaine now passes through the region.

❗️🇬🇷 Two firefighters have died after two Bell-type firefighting helicopters collided mid-air while battling the Psatha wildfire in western Attica, #Greece.

Two of the crew members, one Greek and one Danish national, were killed. Two other crew members, one Greek and one British national, were recovered alive. Initial reports suggest human error may have been a factor, though the investigation is ongoing.

🇮🇩 Surabaya, #Indonesia. Fire on Indonesian ferry leaves at least 5 dead and dozens missing.

The ferry was reported to be nearly engulfed by flames, with passengers gathered on the bridge and bow. A tugboat and another passing vessel moved in and began evacuating passengers shortly before 10 a.m., the statement said. By Sunday afternoon, several nearby vessels managed to rescue 225 passengers and crew and recovered five bodies. At least 41 people remained unaccounted for.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known and remained under investigation.
