In antiquity, identity was comprehensive, encompassing both your cultural heritage, race, language and your gods. The term for this blend of nationality and spirituality is ethnos(plural ethnē). For example, the Jews, as one ethnos, had Yahweh, while the Greeks had Zeus.
Ethnikos refers to something pertaining to an ethnos—this could mean characteristics, customs, or even an individual member of that group.

In the bible Gentile/Nations/Heathen/Pagan are all translations from these same greek roots ethnos/ethnikos.

Whats amazing about the bible is it takes this neutral term and changed it to mean everyone outside of the jewish/yahweh world view. Ethnē or "nations", now meant everyone outside of the jewish covenant (which christians were "grafted into"). This was insane to all intelligent people at the time. Suggesting there are no nationalities, only ONE with the jewish god, surely would have been considered an extremely aggressive and arrogant assault on everyone's heritage.

The word pagan didn’t initially refer specifically to religion like it does today. It described an entire cultural identity—an ethnos—distinct from the emerging universalist Yahweh-centric worldview.

Thats why the word "ethnic" comes from the same word "ethnikos", and was used interchangeably with pagan/gentile until post world war 2(!).

Christianity was not an innocent spirituality shift, it was a full on attack on every ethnic/cultural identity outside of the jewish one.

Martin Luther is often praised by "halfway there" Christians for taking many actions against jewish corruption. But he also was for killing European heretics and horrible torture methods.
This is the best example of controlled opposition, because it shows even when Christians act to fight jewish corruption in the most explicit example most of them dream about, they are still benefiting jews by pushing their god and Torah and of course, the NT poisoning.
No matter what, the jews always win. Whether they remain physically in power in an area, or they are driven out, the Judaism agenda is still being carried out to destroy all non-jewish ethnos.

In his book The City of God, Augustine inadvertently exposed how Christianity led to Rome's downfall, even though the book was meant to counter these claims.
