McAllen’s mayor told me the city extended its disaster declaration last night due to the surge of migrants going through Catholic Charities. He says in the past weeks the numbers have grown past Catholic Charities’ capacity, creating issues for the city and country.

Thousands of migrants are being detained by border patrol and then released into the US. They board flights to final destinations throughout the nation. The surge is so big in the Rio Grande Valley that the McAllen mayor has made a disaster declaration.

Mayor Villalobos says he hopes to get federal assistance for the surge of migrants who have no housing, food or transportation. He met about it with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas today during his visit to the Rio Grande Valley.

Wow! Well over a million attempts to illegally cross the border so far in FY2021–an incredible jump in numbers compared to previous years.
