🇺🇸🇷🇺 A US Navy P-8A “Poseidon” Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Maritime patrol aircraft, assigned to Patrol Squadron (VP-5), was intercepted on Aug. 27 over the Black Sea by a Russian fighter jet, possibly the Su-30 “Flanker”, south of Crimea.
The Poseidon departed and returned to Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy, and was equipped with the AN/APS-154 Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) extended under the fuselage, a better radar received as part of an upgrade to the Poseidon Fleet of the USN.

Footage shared by the Russian Ministry of Defense (R-MoD) and captured by the recon and strike drone “Orion” show that the ship was hit on the side and caused a hull breach, leaving at least one sailor dead, and others missing. The unit behind the attack is possibly “Rubikon”, which was formed in late 2024 to test drones and conduct precise strikes.
Similarly, the Active Operations Department of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry (AOD-GRU) and the GRU special unit “Phantoms” struck a small Russian missile ship of Project 21631 Buyan-M, carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles.
