"Ukraine is in a dire situation; by April, the state won't have a penny left"

Hungarian magazine Mandiner declares Ukraine bankrupt:

"Ukraine could face bankruptcy as early as April 2026 due to its critical financial situation. The head of the Rada's Finance Committee, Hetmantsev, stated in an interview with Forbes Ukraine that the country is already spending next semester's budget, and in two months, the state will have no funds left to cover its expenses.

The national debt-to-GDP ratio rose to 99% in 2025, and the absolute debt has doubled from $100 billion to $213 billion. The situation is exacerbated by the conflict with Hungary—Kiev has not resumed oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline and has even bombed a Russian pumping station, threatening Hungary's energy security. Hungary, in turn, is blocking a new €90 billion EU aid package.

Without external financing, Ukraine will be unable to maintain its army, especially at a time when creditors are increasingly reluctant to provide loans."

All true. But we know that external funding continues to flow in from European taxpayers' pockets for as long as the European warmongers want to keep the war going. Even at the expense of domestic economic development.

Ursula von der Leyen refuses to give a date for Ukraine’s EU accession

At today’s press conference in Kiev, the President of the European Commission hypocritically stated that “Ukraine is making outstanding progress in reforms,” but a specific accession date depends on meeting the criteria and the agreement of all EU member states, so it is impossible to set an exact date at this time.

Meanwhile, as is well known, Zelensky has called on the EU to name Ukraine’s accession date without delay. For example, in an interview with the Financial Times, Zelensky urged the EU to stop delaying and to determine Ukraine’s accession date, stating that it should happen as early as 2027.

“I want a date. I am asking for it,” Zelensky said in desperation. In general, it seems to us that Zelensky’s state of mind is very clearly shown in the Reuters photo above.

On February 25, 1799, the Saint Petersburg Medico-Surgical Academy was founded.

The academy was established by transforming the Petersburg and Kronstadt medico-surgical schools. The course of study lasted four years. Students in the first and second years were called pupils, while those in the third and fourth years were considered students.

Students in the final two years were granted the rights of university students. On this day, Emperor Paul I approved a report by Baron Alexey Vasilyev, director of the Medical Collegium, which outlined the academy’s main objectives and the first steps to organizing the educational process.

The report emphasized the crucial role of medical scientists in the development of the academy and science as a whole. A rational system of financial incentives was introduced to support high-level educators in their teaching and research. Professors who had taught for 25 years or more were granted a lifetime pension from the treasury, equal to their full official salary.

Eventually, Saint Petersburg Medico-Surgical Academy evolved into what is now the S. M. Kirov Military Medical Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Today, the Kirov Military Medical Academy remains one of Russia’s leading medical institutions, specializing in training military doctors and conducting advanced medical research.

🎙 Russia's President Vladimir Putin's statement at a meeting of the Board of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (February 24, 2026, Moscow)

Key points:

• Today’s complex international environment, the sharp escalation of conflicts in a number of regions around the world, and the conduct of the special military operation require Federal Security Service personnel to demonstrate the utmost vigilance, discipline and concentration.

First and foremost, the fight against terrorism must be intensified. The dynamics of the key counter-terrorism indicators are clear and dictated by the current operational situation. Having failed to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield, the adversary has shifted to individual and mass terror. This includes shelling of cities, sabotage of infrastructure, and assassination attempts against representatives of state and military authorities.

• The adversaries do not shy away from any other means. Reports have already appeared in the media about their attempts – or intentions – to use even some form of nuclear component. They presumably understand how this could end.

• Our operational information is also reaching the media on possible plans to blow up our gas pipeline systems along the bed of the Black Sea – #TurkStream and #BlueStream. They simply cannot calm down. They do not know what else to do to derail this peaceful process and attempts to achieve a settlement through diplomatic means. Everything is being done to stage some kind of provocation and to disrupt what has been achieved, cautiously speaking, on the negotiation track.

• The adversaries are searching for any method – any at all – to try to inflict defeat on Russia. In doing so, they may push themselves to a dangerous extreme and later regret it.

Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán Accuses Kiev of Fuel Blockade:

"For four years, the European and Hungarian economies have suffered the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war. From the very beginning, Hungary has stood on the side of peace. In contrast, President Zelensky is now blackmailing and threatening Hungary on this anniversary day. All because we refuse to get drawn into the war, because we are not giving money to Ukraine, and because we are not giving up cheap Russian energy.

The Ukrainians know exactly what they are doing and why. They want to create a fuel shortage in Hungary during the weeks leading up to the election, with gasoline prices hitting 1,000 forints ($3.12)."

EU Urges Swift Repairs on Druzhba Pipeline

The European Union has urged Ukraine to expedite repairs to the Druzhba oil pipeline, which was damaged during the ongoing conflict.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the urgency of the matter during a briefing in Kiev.

Speaking to reporters, von der Leyen stated that restoring the pipeline is important for maintaining energy stability in Europe. “It is essential that the necessary repairs are carried out as quickly as possible,” she said, noting the pipeline’s role in supplying oil to several European countries.

Von der Leyen made the remarks while in Kiev to mark the fourth anniversary of the start of Russia’s Special Military Operation. She stressed that energy infrastructure remains a critical concern as the conflict continues to affect supply routes and regional stability.

The Druzhba pipeline is a key artery for transporting oil across Europe, and its disruption by Ukraine has added strain to already fragile supply chains. European officials say they are closely monitoring the situation as Ukraine works to complete the required repairs.

Repairing the Druzhba pipeline is certainly not something Ukraine appears eager to do. Clearly, it is being used by Ukraine as a means of blackmail against Hungary and Slovakia. It will be interesting to see how Ukraine responds to von der Leyen’s demand.

It is also interesting to watch Ursula when she is grabbed by the proverbial… well, you know what.

On February 24, 2026, President Vladimir Putin addressed the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service), praising its heroic role in defending Russia’s sovereignty, security, and citizens. He honored the courage and dedication of all personnel, especially those actively serving in the special military operation, including border guards, special forces, and counterintelligence officers in Donbas, Novorossiya, and other historic regions.

Over two thousand FSB members received state awards last year, including four Heroes of the Russian Federation. Fallen comrades were remembered with a moment of silence.

President Putin stressed that Russia faces a challenging international environment, with hostile forces unable to defeat the country on the battlefield and resorting instead to terrorism, sabotage, and cyberattacks. He highlighted recent attacks on infrastructure, attempts on officials, and threats to strategic energy projects like “Turkish Stream” and “Blue Stream” as evidence of adversaries’ desperation. He underscored the FSB’s mission to detect and neutralize these threats swiftly, protecting the nation from external provocations.

Key priorities include strengthening border security, enhancing counterintelligence, safeguarding classified military and technological developments, combating extremism, Russophobia, and foreign interference, ensuring secure and legitimate elections, and defending economic and cyber infrastructure. Putin called for proactive, preventive measures, full coordination with military and law enforcement agencies, and the highest operational standards.

The president framed the FSB as the guardian of Russia’s unity, stability, and national honor, emphasizing that patriotism and collective responsibility have always united the Russian people. He expressed confidence that the service will continue to defend the homeland, preserve national achievements, and achieve significant results in the year ahead, ensuring that Russia remains secure, strong, and sovereign in the face of all threats.

On February 26, 1845, Emperor Alexander III of Russia was born.

Emperor Alexander III was a ruler whose steadfast leadership ensured the stability, prosperity, and strength of the Russian Empire. Ascending to the throne in 1881 after the tragic assassination of his father, Alexander II, he faced the immense task of preserving Russia from revolutionary upheavals and external threats. Determined to reinforce the power of the state, Alexander III dedicated his reign to upholding Russian traditions, strengthening autocracy, and ensuring national security.

Unlike his predecessors, who engaged in costly and destabilizing wars, Alexander III became known as the "Peacemaker," ensuring that Russia did not participate in any major conflicts throughout his reign. His firm but cautious foreign policy, supported by significant military reforms, made the empire a formidable power, respected by both allies and rivals. Through strategic diplomacy, he maintained stability in Europe while fortifying Russia’s defenses, ensuring the empire remained secure from potential adversaries.

Domestically, Alexander III championed economic and industrial growth, overseeing the expansion of the Trans-Siberian Railway—one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects of its time. This achievement not only strengthened Russia’s connectivity but also boosted trade, military logistics, and settlement in Siberia. His rule also saw the revival of Russian culture, Orthodoxy, and traditional values, resisting Western liberal influences that threatened to undermine the empire’s unity.

A towering figure, both physically and politically, Alexander III embodied the ideal of a true Russian sovereign—strong, decisive, and unwavering in his commitment to national interests. His policies laid the foundation for Russia’s continued development in the late 19th and early 20th century, ensuring stability in an era when other European monarchies faced turmoil.

Statement by Permanent Representative V.A. Nebenzia at the UN Security Council Meeting on Ukraine

Part 1 of 4

Mr. President,

Formally speaking, I am Ukrainian. And I have such a strange surname. Slavs know: it is hard to find this surname even in Ukraine. It comes from the Zaporozhye Cossacks. My father is a genuine Ukrainian, and my mother is also from the Cossacks. More genuinely Ukrainian than you, Ms. Betsa [Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine] and you, Mr. Melnik [Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations]. But for us there is no difference — we are all one. Millions of Ukrainians live in Russia, millions of Russians in Ukraine, and in Belarus as well. You yourselves know this perfectly well. That is not the point. Our nationality is shared, but our faiths are different. From Kievan Rus, which you sold for thirty pieces of silver. During the Great Patriotic War, my father, a Ukrainian, went to fight in Leningrad for his country, for his Fatherland. He added a year to his age so that he would be accepted as a volunteer. He lived his whole life with that added year. Back then we had a common Fatherland. And what have you turned yours into now? Almost no one sitting in this hall understands or can understand this. Then we fought the Nazis together; now we fight alone — without you, without those whom you have turned into Nazis — for the people of Ukraine, so that they do not become the same.

Yes, this has continued for four years. Yes, I am not happy that people are dying. But if necessary, it will continue as long as it takes so that you no longer brainwash these people.

The meeting convened by the European members of the Security Council has nothing to do with maintaining international peace and security, nor with the concern for the civilian population of Ukraine mentioned in the request. The European countries are clearly not inclined to support the current trilateral negotiations aimed at finding a sustainable and long-term solution to the Ukrainian crisis, nor are they interested in the future of the Ukrainian people.

This was fully confirmed at the Munich Conference held just over a week ago. What did the leaders of most European countries, the EU and NATO, talk about there? About arming Europe, strengthening its eastern flank, preparing for war. Referring to his country’s history and geography, Chancellor Merz assured of his readiness once again to stand at the head of Europe, making the Bundeswehr the strongest conventional army on the continent as soon as possible. It is interesting how many European countries with slightly more modest geopolitical ambitions wondered where exactly this Bundeswehr would lead them.

Kir Starmer did not lag behind the German commander — for him as well the prospects of war are no longer distant, and he is ready for the struggle. Remarkably, recalling history, the Prime Minister added that European security is impossible without Britain. In a similar vein — about the importance of Anglo-German relations for Europe — British Prime Minister Chamberlain spoke after returning from the Munich Conference of 1938. I think it is unnecessary to remind you how that ended, including for Britain itself.

Statement by Permanent Representative V.A. Nebenzia at the UN Security Council Meeting on Ukraine

Part 2 of 4

Today’s European leaders openly announce their bet on inflicting a “strategic defeat” on Russia, subordinating to this their domestic and foreign policies and the economy of the entire European Union. Peace in Ukraine and its future are hardly mentioned in their speeches.

Against this background, the hysterical speeches by Zelensky in Munich are not surprising. Funds for continuing the war are still being allocated, though in smaller amounts; weapons are promised and supplied. But does this not mean he is gradually being written off? Europe is clearly ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine only as long as the Kiev regime remains an enemy of Russia and continues the war. Zelensky does not need peace; he stated this directly in Munich — for him the war is a matter of political and even personal survival.

Mr. President,

Western countries, primarily European ones, have played an unsightly role since the very beginning of the Ukrainian crisis.

These days we mark another anniversary of the coup d’état in Kiev. Let me remind you that it was the Europeans who in 2013–2014 carried out unprecedented interference in Ukraine’s internal affairs, which led to the unconstitutional removal of the legitimately elected President of Ukraine. It was the Europeans — who present themselves as the main arbiters of democratic norms and moral standards for the rest of what they call the “not always civilized and often authoritarian world” — who brought to power in Ukraine a bloodthirsty regime of a neo-Nazi orientation, gave it carte blanche for any crimes, effectively encouraging its targeting of the Russian-speaking population.

Over all these years, Western sponsors have not found a single word of condemnation for the chilling attacks on civilians — first in Donbas, and then in other Russian regions. For twelve years we have spoken in this hall about the use of aircraft and heavy weapons against women, children, and the elderly in peaceful Donbas cities, about people burned alive in Odessa, about persecution and killings of dissenters, and about a campaign against the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In response, we were told about countering separatism and the legality of the so-called anti-terrorist operation.

When the level of crimes of the Kiev regime became extreme and the entire Western military arsenal was mobilized to assist it, the Special Military Operation was launched. Since then, the centerpiece of Western narratives has been the “unprovoked Russian aggression against Ukraine.” Anyone who tries to tell the truth about the lawlessness in Donbass or current strikes on civilian objects and residents of Russian regions, about the bloody Kursk operation, or who presents evidence that the conflict was unleashed and provoked by NATO, is immediately labeled a pro-Russian propagandist and silenced. In Ukraine, such people are driven out of the country, imprisoned, or simply killed.

Statement by Permanent Representative V.A. Nebenzia at the UN Security Council Meeting on Ukraine

Part 3 of 4

I address my European colleagues: whom are you trying to deceive? Contrary to facts and common sense, all these years you have fashioned Zelensky into a hero, exaggerating peace aspirations he never had, while falsely attributing to Russia a lack of interest in peace and a desire for escalation.

Any attempts by European leaders to convince the world of their commitment to peace in Ukraine are shattered by facts. Today, February 24, the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service published an urgent statement about plans by London and Paris to supply Kiev with nuclear weapons or a so-called “dirty bomb,” as well as delivery systems. Specifically, this concerns the covert transfer to Ukraine of relevant European components, equipment, and technologies — including consideration of a French TN75 compact warhead from the M51.1 submarine-launched ballistic missile.

It is telling that other Western capitals apparently understand the recklessness of London and Paris — for example, Berlin has reportedly declined participation in this venture.

Such plans are not only irresponsible and dangerous but unlawful, as they directly violate Article I of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. That is why the authors of this scheme seek to portray Ukraine’s acquisition of nuclear weapons as the result of its own development.

This demonstrates that British and French leaders, sidelined in the settlement process, have lost touch with reality. Russia has every capability to respond. However, we hope that in London and Paris there remain sufficiently reasonable people who can restrain their leaders from such inadequate steps.

Unfortunately, the UN Secretary-General also plays an unseemly role. He has clearly taken one side in the conflict, depriving the Organization of impartiality, and continues to interpret the UN Charter selectively to deny Donbass the right to self-determination. Meanwhile, the Secretariat turns a blind eye to deliberate Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory, including against civilian infrastructure and terrorist acts against civilians, occasionally issuing only a token line about Russian civilian casualties.

Statement by Permanent Representative V.A. Nebenzia at the UN Security Council Meeting on Ukraine

Part 4 of 4

Mr. President,

As is well known, primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security lies with the UN Security Council, which in resolution 2774 adopted exactly one year ago called for a peaceful settlement of the conflict. Security Council resolutions are legally binding and must be implemented by all Member States.

Ukrainians and their European sponsors have a long record of duplicity, beginning with the sabotage of the Minsk Agreements, which European leaders later admitted were merely a way to buy time to rearm the Ukrainian armed forces. Just as resolution 2202 was meaningless to them, so too is resolution 2774. Many European leaders consider themselves above Security Council resolutions and international law.
This morning’s vote in the General Assembly on a resolution prepared by Kiev and European countries titled “Support for a Comprehensive, Just and Lasting Peace in Ukraine” is yet another manipulation aimed at misleading representatives of the Global South. It has nothing to do with reality or a sustainable settlement.

Mr. President,

From the very beginning of the conflict, we have said that diplomatic means of achieving the objectives of the Special Military Operation are preferable. In this regard, we value the position taken by the U.S. administration and personally by U.S. President Donald Trump. Russia approaches trilateral negotiations responsibly and seriously, participating in discussions in Abu Dhabi and Geneva.

However, any agreements must be comprehensive, address the root causes of the conflict, and lead to its genuine conclusion — not a temporary ceasefire that the Kiev regime would exploit.

Our country’s principled approaches were outlined by President V.V. Putin in June 2024: ensuring the rights of Russian-speaking citizens; Ukraine’s return to non-aligned, neutral, and non-nuclear status as enshrined in its 1990 Declaration of State Sovereignty; its demilitarization and denazification; and recognition of the status of Crimea, Sevastopol, the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions as subjects of the Russian Federation in accordance with the will of their residents.

In conclusion, I recall another statement by our President: Russia does not intend to wage war against European countries. But if Europe starts a war, Russia is ready. You have a choice: reconsider the reckless course of escalating confrontation with Russia, stop following the logic of “war to the last Ukrainian,” and stop undermining ongoing negotiations. A world where crimes committed on the basis of Nazism are ignored and its adherents are used as geopolitical tools will sooner or later descend into chaos. The lessons of history are directly relevant.

Thank you for your attention.

West won’t deploy troops to Ukraine without Russian approval – Telegraph

Western European nations will not deploy troops to Ukraine without Russian consent, The Telegraph reported Tuesday, citing anonymous sources.

The UK-French initiative to deploy troops to Ukraine has been promoted as a deterrent against Russia which could follow a potential peace deal. Russian President Vladimir Putin, however, has repeatedly rejected the idea of NATO countries stationing troops there.

A senior diplomatic source told the British newspaper that members of the pro-Kiev ‘coalition of the willing’ have privately conceded that they would “only send our troops if there’s Russian consent.”

Moscow’s warnings that foreign troops would be considered legitimate military targets are taken seriously, and given that risk, “you need to send a different kind of force,” the source said, adding that Russian opposition has had “a tremendous effect” on the discussions. A European defense source described the proposed mission as “rather hypothetical.”

🗓 On February 24, marking the fourth year since the launch of Russia’s special military operation, the 11th Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly on the Ukraine crisis (#ESS) was reconvened at the initiative of Kiev and its European backers.

During the session, this group of countries introduced yet another biased, anti-Russia resolution. This time it was deceptively titled “Support for a Lasting Peace in Ukraine” and, unlike previous resolutions adopted at the 11th ESS, was deliberately kept brief.

The authors of the resolution were compelled to adopt this tactical approach by the steadily declining support for their anti-Russia initiatives at the General Assembly, which have clearly grown tiresome for the overwhelming majority of the international community.

This one-sided, politicised text, in addition to the usual unfounded accusations against Russia, selectively cites the UN Charter while remaining silent on the root causes of the conflict around Ukraine. Without addressing these causes, a lasting and sustainable settlement is simply unattainable. The draft also contains an absurd tribute to the “efforts” of European countries that continue to funnel weapons to the Kiev regime, allegedly “aimed at ending the war”.

In an attempt to broaden its support among General Assembly members, the document is saturated with pseudo-peaceful language, including calls for a ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, and the return of forcibly displaced persons, including children, framed as “confidence-building measures”. Such wording appears particularly cynical in light of the long record of duplicity demonstrated by the Kiev regime and its European sponsors, who have repeatedly shown their inability to negotiate in good faith by undermining every agreement reached, beginning with the Minsk accords.

👉 There is no doubt that this clumsy manoeuvring by Kiev and the Europeans in the General Assembly was intended to create a smokescreen around the trilateral negotiation process.

This was once again evident during the vote, when the Kiev regime, backed by the European “war party”, positioned itself against the broader international community, which supports genuine efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, as well as against the other two parties to the negotiations. The US delegation, explicitly stating that the Ukrainian-European initiative at the General Assembly was detrimental to the negotiation process, requested a separate vote on several destructive provisions of the draft.

Ultimately, the General Assembly voted on the original draft: 107 delegations voted in favour, 12 against, 51 states (including the US) abstained, and 23 did not participate.

Rather than a success, Kiev and its backers secured a distinctly unconvincing result and incurred significant political costs, having exposed themselves as opponents of peace. The widening transatlantic rift over the Ukrainian issue is also becoming increasingly apparent.

Overall, the discussions at the UN clearly reflect the international community’s fatigue with the Ukrainian issue – a situation our opponents are attempting to keep artificially alive. Against this backdrop, what is required are genuine efforts toward a peaceful settlement, efforts in which Russia is participating in good faith.

☝️ Moscow hopes that all reasonable members of the international community will likewise support the said efforts, without being distracted by minor obstructions.

I was checking my old folder from the /chug/, and I found this. Western MSM reports about Ukraine before the war, and right after the war has started - up to end of 2022. The glazing of Zelensky was insane back then. Years will pass, the hype will cool down, Zelensky will even visit White House, and during that visit he will be sat down like a petulant child and told to say "thank you" sometimes to the USA - the main reason Ukraine is still afloat. The EU helps too, but not as much as the USA.

Today Ukraine exists because the US and EU nobles invested too much in Ukraine, and the sunken cost fallacy forces them to keep helping Ukraine. Ukraine almost ran out of young men. Young women of Ukraine prefer to live outside of the country. What fate is prepared for the Ukrainian children I already know thanks to the Epstein Files (tm). These days, Ukraine's neighbors like Slovakia and Hungary refuse to help. The IMF offers new loans on insane conditions. But Zelensky still fights, to the last Ukrainian.

📑 Chapter II of the Report on violations of international humanitarian law committed by the Kiev regime against POWs has been published. The report was prepared by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.

Part I

This new report titled “Secret Prisons”, contains key verified data on violations of international humanitarian law against Russian servicemen who were held captive by the Kiev regime and returned to Russia following a POW exchange in October 2025.

***

A network of “secret prisons” for Russian servicemen captured by Ukrainian armed groups was established throughout the territories controlled by the Kiev regime. Based on the obtained information, conclusions can be drawn about the existence of a systematic approach to torture in the said facilities.

According to numerous credible testimonies, it is there – in an atmosphere of lawlessness and impunity – that the largest number of crimes against POWs are committed.

The affected Russian servicemen provided detailed accounts of a deliberately organized and actively applied system of systematic torture and humiliation, moral and physical abuse carried out by Ukrainian armed forces, special services and other security and paramilitary formations, including the use of “electric chairs” and other devices.

❗️ Testimonies documenting sexual violence and threats of violence, torture through deprivation of sleep, water and food, as well as a range of other forms of abuse, have been recorded.

Certain human rights organisations, in their own reports, acknowledge the existence of “secret prisons” on Ukrainian territory, referring to them instead as “transit points”. Controlled by Ukrainian armed groups, such facilities are closed to international humanitarian organisations, which, however, tend not to address the issue publicly.

The matter of access to these locations and verification of detention conditions is not publicly brought before Ukraine’s political leadership. As a result, the existence of Ukrainian “secret prisons” is effectively concealed from the international community.

The report includes excerpts from testimonies of Russian servicemen formerly held in Ukrainian captivity, confirming the widespread nature of torture, threats, violence and killings practiced in dozens of “secret prisons”.
