Battle front update by Yury Podolyaka
▪️Pokrovsk sector (map 1): Ukrainian defense continues to crumble. After the fall of a stronghold north of Novoselovka Pervaya, the garrison of the village found itself in a mousetrap, unable to rotate. Russian assault units have gained a foothold in the village and are preparing to inflict the final defeat on the enemy. This is the last village east of the Volchya River under Ukrainian control. Russian pressure continues towards the villages of Progres, Vozdvizhenka, and Lozuvatskoe.
▪️Toretsk / "New York" sector (map 2): Russian units have come up against the Ukrainian defense in the central part of "New York", and they are now moving along the left and right flanks of the breakthrough. East of New York, Ukrainian strongholds have long been doomed, it's only a matter of time. However, the Russian advance on the Western flank threatens the collapse of the entire Ukrainian front and a broad envelopment of the Toretsk grouping.
▪️Krasnogorovka (map 3): Yesterday, Ukraine lost control over the district hospital, which was its last stronghold in the central part of the town. Logically, the Ukrainian command should now withdraw forces to the other side of the river to preserve personnel and the combat effectiveness of its units.

On July 13, 1944, during World War II, Soviet troops liberated Vilnius from Nazi German occupiers.
On July 13, 1944, during Operation Bagration, the city of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, was liberated from Nazi forces.
Moscow saluted the troops of the 3rd Belorussian Front with 24 salvos from 324 guns. The distinguished units were given the title "Vilnius."
The enemy did not have a continuous defensive front in the Vilnius direction. So the German command made an unsuccessful attempt to stop the advance of Soviet troops at the pre-prepared Daugavpils–Vilnius–Lida line, where they concentrated the retreating units of the 3rd Tank and 4th Field Armies of Army Group Center.
On July 5, the 3rd Belorussian Front began an advance without regrouping forces. On July 7, units of the 5th Guards Tank Army (commanded by P.A. Rotmistrov) and the 3rd Guards Mechanized Corps (commanded by V.T. Obukhov) approached the city and began to encircle it from the south and west.
By July 9, the city was completely surrounded. German units, reinforced by airborne troops, unsuccessfully tried to break the encirclement. Five days after the offensive began, on July 10, Soviet troops liberated the entire northern part of Vilnius and entered the Old Town.
After the assault on the last pockets of resistance, Vilnius was fully liberated on July 13, 1944.
In the battles for the city, about 8,000 German soldiers and officers were killed, around 5,000 were taken prisoner, and 156 guns, many tanks, vehicles, other military equipment, weapons, and ammunition were captured. Twenty units and formations that particularly distinguished themselves in the battles were awarded the honorary title "Vilnius."

Ukraine wants Poland to use its air defense to protect Lvov, Poland is in doubt
The latest statements by Polish officials suggest that Poland and NATO lack the political will to make such a commitment. However, such a possibility has been floated, so let's discuss the scenarios.
Suppose an agreement between Kiev and Warsaw includes the possibility for Polish air defense systems to intercept Russian missiles and drones over the western regions of Ukraine. This "umbrella" could provide cover for F-16 fighters and Alliance ground forces on Ukrainian territory.
Another potential use of Polish air defense could be to protect the construction of joint military-industrial enterprises by the West and Ukraine.
In any case, such a "no-fly zone" scenario would almost certainly lead to a direct conflict between Russia and NATO. "Russia will respond with Iskander missiles, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, and Kh-101s. Such a development will not bode well for Ukraine," experts warn.

The Belgorod Brit muses on meetings.

Forwarded from Russian MFA 🇷🇺
🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question on prospects of Russian-British relations following the parliamentary elections in the UK
❓ Question: Do you think we can expect a change in Great Britain’s current policy towards Russia after a new government has been formed in London?
💬 Maria Zakharova: The first steps of the new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the government he formed make it clear that the Labour Party is not going to deviate from the general Western course, dictated by the United States, towards Russia: they have reaffirmed their commitment to hold the top leadership of our country accountable for “war crimes” and the unchanged course to push Ukraine along the Euro-Atlantic path.
They continue to search for ways to confiscate frozen Russian state assets for the Kiev regime’s needs, and have also announced new military tranches.
In other words, there is no doubt that the Labour government will continue the confrontational anti-Russia policy. All kinds of assistance to the Zelensky regime, along with a demonstration of British leadership in mobilising foreign assistance to Kiev and countering Russia in the international arena, will obviously remain a priority of the Labour Party’s foreign policy, albeit to the detriment of the socio-economic well-being of their own country.

Zelensky slams ‘crazy’ limits on Russia strikes
Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky lashed out at Kiev’s foreign backers for their reluctance to lift the remaining limitations on the use of Western-supplied weapons for long-range strikes inside Russia.
Kiev already has the greenlight from several Western states to hit “legitimate” targets inside Russia with their weapons, as well as a concession from Washington to strike beyond Russia’s border near the city of Kharkov. However, Zelensky has been pushing for the strike range to be extended – a prospect Moscow has warned would constitute an escalation of the conflict.

The Madımak massacre of July 2, 1993, and the burning of the Trade Union House in Odessa on May 2, 2014: What do they have in common?
In the 1970s, the proxy war between the US and the USSR reached Turkey. The conditions for a foreign intervention were being created on the territory of the country. A series of armed clashes between right-wing and left-wing forces ended with the Military Coup on September 12, 1980.
The 1980s saw radical economic, political, social, and cultural transformation in Turkey. The country was introduced to new concepts and experienced social upheaval when hundreds of thousands of people were arrested and became political pariahs, and 517 people were sentenced to death. The events of this historical period laid the groundwork for those of 1990s and 2000s.
After the 1983 elections, Turkey entered a rapid process of "neoliberal restructuring." At the same time, as part of the imperialist "Green Belt" project, the Turkish-Islamic synthesis was used to dramatically transform Turkey's social structure.
The Turkish-Islamic synthesis came to power at the beginning of the decade and paved the way for the events of July 2, 1993.
Thirty-one years ago, on July 2, 1993, an incident took place at the Madimak Hotel in Sivas, Turkey, that bears a striking similarly with the events of May 2, 2014, in Odessa, Ukraine.
33 artists and intellectuals burned alive or died from smoke inhalation.
The victims had gathered at a hotel for a festival in honor of the Alevi poet Pir Sultan Abdal, who for many Turks has become a symbol of the nation's struggle for freedom and independence.
Thousands of local Sunnis in Sivas, after attending Friday prayers at a nearby mosque, marched toward the hotel where the conference was being held. They destroyed a statue depicting Pir Sultan Abdul installed the previous day and set fire to the building.
While the Madimak events were taking place, soldiers came to intervene, but they stood aside because there were too few of them. The crowd shouted: "Soldiers go to Bosnia". When the hotel was set on fire, some people said, "this is God's fire."
According to official accounts of the Odessa massacre, which in Turkey can also be called the Ukrainian Madimak, firefighters managed to get about 350 people out of the burning building, while most of those who managed to escape were lynched by Maidan supporters.
Of the 190 people detained in the Madimak case, only 31 are serving sentences. Thanks to the abolition of the death penalty in Turkey and the authorities' intervention in the case, many criminals have been paroled or released after serving their sentences.
Since Soviet times, the US and its allies have carried out a policy of Islamization and fascization of all Muslim countries neighboring Russia, including Turkey. The main goal of this policy has been to encircle Russia. These movements have essentially become "American Islamism" and Americanist Turkic nationalism.
Western capitalism, led by the U.S., has actively engaged in shaping mass consciousness around the world. Even the most extreme examples of mass murder, such as burning people alive, have come to be seen in the minds of the masses as an event to be supported or ignored.
The reason why people did not show the expected intellectual reaction to the massacres in Madimak and Odessa lies in the fact that those ruling elites have turned the societies of their countries into a passive manipulated mass, forced to think and act as the elites wish.
