Brazilian President Lula da Silva has expressed his support for Bolivia's efforts to join the BRICS group
Bolivia officially announced its intention to join the alliance in June 2023. Confirming Brazil's positive stance, Lula said: "The issue of the group’s further enlargement will be discussed during the summit in Kazan in October. Brazil has been very positive about the accession of Bolivia and other countries of our region". He spoke after meeting his Bolivian counterpart, Luis Arce.
Lula also condemned the recent coup attempt in Bolivia, stressing that "the Bolivian people have already tasted the bitterness of the 2019 coup, and now they have been hit by an attempt on 26 June. On the eve of its 200th anniversary in 2025, Bolivia cannot fall into this trap again. We cannot tolerate authoritarian dreams and coups. We have a huge responsibility to defend democracy against attempts to roll it back. Worldwide, the disunity of democratic forces has only benefited the extreme right".
In the midst of these events, it has been reported that Brazilian President Lula da Silva's approval rating reached record high in July 2024. According to a poll conducted by the sociological company Genial, support for Lula's rule rose to 54%, while disapproval fell to 43%.

Biden threatens China with EU divestment
President Joe Biden warned that US’ European allies are prepared to cut investments in China if it continues supporting Russia. He noted that China isn't directly supplying weapons to Russia but claimed may be supplying Moscow with “information and capacity.”

After the fall of a stronghold north of Novoselovka Pervaya, the garrison of the village found itself in a mousetrap, unable to rotate. Russian assault units have gained a foothold in the village and are preparing to inflict the final defeat on the enemy. This is the last village east of the Volchya River under Ukrainian control. Russian pressure continues towards the villages of Progres, Vozdvizhenka, and Lozuvatskoe.
▪️Toretsk / "New York" sector (map 2): Russian units have come up against the Ukrainian defense in the central part of "New York", and they are now moving along the left and right flanks of the breakthrough. East of New York, Ukrainian strongholds have long been doomed, it's only a matter of time. However, the Russian advance on the Western flank threatens the collapse of the entire Ukrainian front and a broad envelopment of the Toretsk grouping.

On July 13, 1944, during Operation Bagration, the city of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, was liberated from Nazi forces.
Moscow saluted the troops of the 3rd Belorussian Front with 24 salvos from 324 guns. The distinguished units were given the title "Vilnius."
The enemy did not have a continuous defensive front in the Vilnius direction. So the German command made an unsuccessful attempt to stop the advance of Soviet troops at the pre-prepared Daugavpils–Vilnius–Lida line, where they concentrated the retreating units of the 3rd Tank and 4th Field Armies of Army Group Center.
On July 5, the 3rd Belorussian Front began an advance without regrouping forces. On July 7, units of the 5th Guards Tank Army (commanded by P.A. Rotmistrov) and the 3rd Guards Mechanized Corps (commanded by V.T. Obukhov) approached the city and began to encircle it from the south and west.
By July 9, the city was completely surrounded. German units, reinforced by airborne troops, unsuccessfully tried to break the encirclement. Five days after the offensive began, on July 10, Soviet troops liberated the entire northern part of Vilnius and entered the Old Town.
After the assault on the last pockets of resistance, Vilnius was fully liberated on July 13, 1944.
In the battles for the city, about 8,000 German soldiers and officers were killed, around 5,000 were taken prisoner, and 156 guns, many tanks, vehicles, other military equipment, weapons, and ammunition were captured.
