On June 26, 1954, the Obninsk Nuclear Power Plant became the first nuclear power plant in the world to go into commercial operation.
This day rightfully became known as the birth of nuclear energy.
In a TASS announcement from July 1, 1954, it was stated: "In the Soviet Union, efforts by scientists and engineers successfully completed the design and construction of the first commercial nuclear power plant with a useful capacity of 5000 kilowatts."
The announcement of the launch of the world's first nuclear power plant came as a complete surprise to both the Soviet and global public, as nothing about its development and construction had been published in open sources; everything was kept strictly confidential.
Starting in 1956, the station was open to both Soviet and foreign delegations. The first nuclear power plant was visited by many prominent political figures, scientists, and tens of thousands of ordinary people from almost every country in the world.
On April 29, 2002, in accordance with an order from the Minister of Atomic Energy, in a ceremonial setting, the reactor of the first nuclear power plant was shut down for good.
The plant operated without incident for 48 years, setting a record for the longest operation of a nuclear reactor.

Он сам никогда не осознавал насколько был талантлив и насколько большой вклад внёс в нашу победу. На обоих фронтах.
"A letter from a Donetsk resident" Oleg wrote at the very beginning of the SMO. Then still being a fighter of the information front. In about six months he will be at the front not with a keyboard, but with a machine gun in his hands. And then, even to his own surprise, he will deftly master UAVs... He himself never realized how talented he was and how much of a contribution he made to our victory. On both fronts.

The Ukrainian war effort is under severe strain as Russia intensifies its air assaults with the FAB-3000 M54 - The National Interest.
▪️The American magazine acknowledges the effectiveness of the massive 6,600-pound explosive device paired with UMPK-series glide bomb kits.
▪️These powerful bombs, which Russia has recently used for the first time near Kharkov, have no direct U.S. equivalent, and they are difficult for Ukraine's NATO-supplied air defenses to counter.
▪️It was believed that the FAB-3000 M54 could only be launched by the Tu-22M3. Instead, it’s believed that Russian Su-34s popped these leviathans off.
▪️As Russia is ramping up the production of these devastating weapons, the National Interest is calling for a ceasefire (before it's too late).

⚡️ Foreign Ministry’s statement on retaliatory measures following EU restrictions against Russian media outlets
💬 In response to the May 17 decision of the EU Council, banning broadcasting by three Russian media outlets, including RIA Novosti, Izvestia MIC and Rossiyskaya Gazeta, effective from today, June 25, countermeasures are being introduced that limit access to broadcasting resources in the Russian Federation for media outlets of the EU member states and EU media operators that systemically spread false information about the special military operation.
The Russian Side has repeatedly warned at various levels that politically motivated persecution of Russian journalists and unjustified bans on Russian media outlets in the EU will not go unanswered.
This notwithstanding, Brussels and the capitals of the bloc’s countries preferred to further escalate the situation. By imposing another illegitimate ban, they forced Moscow to introduce symmetrical and proportional countermeasures. Responsibility for these developments rests solely with the EU leadership and the countries of this association that have supported this decision.
The Russian Side will revise its decision concerning the above-mentioned media operators, if restrictions against Russian media outlets are lifted.
👉 A list of media outlets of the EU member states and EU media operators, covered by retaliatory measures and restrictions limiting broadcasts and internet access on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation: The IL-76 with Ukrainian prisoners of war was shot down by a Patriot system.
The IL-76 crashed on January 24 in the Belgorod region. The 6 crew members, 3 members of the Russian Defense Ministry's military police and 65 Ukrainian POW’s en route to the exchange venue were killed.

The investigation has completed a piece-by-piece analysis of the structural fragments of the aircraft. On its basis, it was concluded that the missile warhead detonation occurred in front of the cockpit from above, to the left in the direction of the flight.
Multiple penetrating injuries characteristic of penetration by the impact elements of an anti-aircraft guided missile were recorded. The aircraft was hit by the first missile at an altitude of about 4,000 meters. The second missile did not reach its target and self-destructed.
The investigation has information about which units of the Ukrainian army have the above-mentioned missile systems in service.
The leadership of the GUR (Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service) and the Armed Forces of Ukraine knew for a fact that the Ukrainian prisoners of war were being brought to the place of exchange on the specified date. Nevertheless, an order was given to shoot down the aircraft.
The work to identify the specific officials involved in the organization of the terrorist attack continues in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

🎙️Embassy comment regarding the developments surrounding Julian Assange
▪︎We regard the release of Julian Assange from custody on June 24 in London as the rectification of one of the many injustices faced by the founder of WikiLeaks. Hopefully, this will enable the journalist to improve his severely compromised health due to his incarceration in a British prison and to resume a normal life.
▪︎Nevertheless, this event is evidently the result of agreements between Mr Assange and the US side, and it remains to be seen whether Washington DC will fulfill its part of the bargain. In any case British justice can claim no credit for this outcome. The authorities initially decided to deprive the journalist of his freedom and to extradite him, and subsequently missed the opportunity to take a principled stand against this unjust and illegitimate course of action.
▪︎Throughout these years, they have acted in the interests of the United States, undertaking the "dirty work" of isolating Mr Assange as part of a collective persecution that trampled on the fundamental principles of freedom of speech and human rights. Now, they have simply responded to a directive from across the Atlantic.
☝️The British government and judicial system will forever bear the responsibility for the more than five years that the founder of WikiLeaks spent in the harshest conditions of solitary confinement in a high-security prison, conditions more befitting terrorists, and the repercussions this has had for him personally and for his family, as well as for global journalism and independent media at large.

Margarita Simonyan, head of RT, on Julian Assange:
One day, we had a conversation, wandering in the woods outside London, having left our cell phones at home (Julian knew that Big Brother was listening to everyone before anyone else believed it). I asked him why he was doing all that, even though he was certain to be hounded and destroyed, both reputationally and physically.
"I just can't stand being lied to," Assange replied.
Today, he is free for the first time in years. Almost free. Despite the horrendous price he had to pay, I'm awfully glad that the best journalist of our time will live.

7️⃣9️⃣ years ago, on June 26, 1945, The United Nations Charter was signed, which became the main result of the San Francisco Conference.
This fundamental document was signed by 50 participating countries, including the USSR as well as its constituent entities: the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. On behalf of the USSR, the UN Charter was signed by Andrey Gromyko.
The establishing of the UN – a universal international organization, the main goals of which are defined as the maintenance and strengthening of peace and security – was a natural consequence of the Second World War, an expression of the desire of the world community to resolve conflicts without global military action.
📃 The UN Charter is a fundamental international document mandating the main principles and norms of states’ international behaviour and regulating relations between states as well as the activities of UN agencies and organisations within its system.
🇺🇳 Today, the UN comprises 1️⃣9️⃣3️⃣ Member States, with its activities embracing every sphere of the planet’s international, political, economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian life through its specialised agencies, committees and sub-committees.
🇷🇺 Russia invariably remains committed to multilateralism and the UN’s coordinating role in world affairs, and is actively involved in the effort to reform and adapt the UN to new international realities.
🎙 From Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's remarks during the UN Security Council open debate on "Effective Multilateralism through the Protection of the Principles of the UN Charter" (New York, April 24, 2023):
💬 It is our shared responsibility to preserve the UN as the enduring model of multilateralism and coordination of world politics. The key to success is working together, refusing to claim exclusivity and - I repeat once again - respecting the sovereign equality of states. This is what we all signed up to when we ratified the UN Charter.

Lindsey Graham deserves credit for honesty. He said the reason we have to keep the Russia-Ukraine war going is that Ukraine has trillions of dollars worth of critical minerals, that we need for future development. And that we can't let these minerals and all this wealth go to Russia and China. And that's exactly what will happen if Ukraine is just allowed to be a sovereign country. That's why this war needs to be fought.

Weaponized immigration, orchestrated by a rogue government bent on sedition and treason, represents a deeply insidious strategy where the movement of people is manipulated to destabilize and undermine target nations. This tactic, steeped in deceit and betrayal, exploits the desperation and vulnerability of displaced individuals, turning them into unwitting instruments of a grander, malicious scheme.
The rogue government's actions constitute a betrayal of both its own people and the international community. By engaging in such treasonous behavior, it undermines global stability and trust. Its sedition aims to fracture alliances, weaken democratic institutions, and erode the rule of law, fostering a climate of fear and uncertainty

On June 27, 1754, Empress Elizaveta Petrovna approved the project for the Winter Palace.
In the 18th century, five Winter Palaces were built in St. Petersburg. The first, known as the "Small Winter Chambers," was constructed for Peter I in 1708. It was a two-story house with a tiled roof and a high porch. Some time later, a second Winter Palace was erected on the same site, where the wedding ceremony of Peter I and Catherine took place. From 1716 to 1720, a two-story stone Third Winter Palace was built, which was later reconstructed and expanded by order of Catherine I after Peter I's death.
Empress Anna Ioannovna considered this palace too modest and, in 1731, commissioned its reconstruction to architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Four years later, the Fourth Winter Palace was completed.
Empress Elizaveta Petrovna also decided to redesign the imperial residence to her taste. The construction was again entrusted to architect Rastrelli. The erection of the Fifth Winter Palace lasted eight years. This is the building we see today.
For 150 years, the palace was the ceremonial imperial residence. In November 1917, it was declared a museum, and today it houses the main exhibition of the State Hermitage Museum.
