🏙 Giant skyscraper stabiliser

The Taipei 101 skyscraper is equipped with a tuned mass damper weighing 728 tonnes that stabilises it during strong winds and earthquakes. During a magnitude 6.9 earthquake, it appears that the damper is moving, but it is actually the building that is moving while the damper remains stationary.
