Florence Nightingale "Lady With the Lamp" by Henrietta Rae 1891

"Some believe it is only GREAT POWER that can hold evil in check. But that is not what I have found. I have found that it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love."-Gandalf

What is a Healing Cultist?

To Heal is not to simply treat illnesses as they appear, to mend torn flesh or purge ones body of illness, no... it is more than that, much more. Beyond the confines of the flesh there are parts of all of us that must be tended and yes at times mended.

The Healing Cult is selfless, a cult of Kindness.

It is this very dearth of Healing Cultists, true healing cultists not those who do for views or ratings but those who nurse the baby rabbit, who lift the spirits of a young child in the dumps, one who will defend another's honor, those who hold celebrations binding the community in bonds tighter than any chains.
This Cult is one of the most needed and sadly one of the least prominent. Why are people so sick? Why are they so lost? Why do so many of us despair and die of broken hearts and crushed spirits?
It is the loss of the little things, for it is in the little things that the Healing Cult lives. When these things disappear... so do we.

Kindness Towards Animals

One of the gifts of being who and what we are is that our kindness is not reserved merely for other people, but for all living creatures. Perhaps it is the devaluing of animals that causes us to devalue each other as well?

It is in our nature to be kind and healing to any creature that crosses our path, sure we may kill for war or for food, but these are the ways of nature. To help when able is the way of US. Whether it is patching a Turtles shell, making a replacement for an Eagle's beak, creating cures and treatments for dogs even aiding those whose spines are broken with custom wheelchairs or even a Deer Hunter stopping in the middle of a hunt to save a deer stuck in the mud from certain death. It is our nature to help and care for animals with no thought of recognition secure only in the knowledge that when presented with the option we choose kindness.

The Importance of Play To the Healing Cult

One of the most important things in life is to play. Especially for the young, as it is not only games but also many life lessons that can be gleaned from their interactions with others.
Encouraging kids to play is integral to the healing cult, encouraging them to make friends, use their imagination, and to push through the bumps, bruises, scraped knees and the tears. This shows them that even when painful things happen that they are more capable, that they can overcome, THAT THEY CAN TRIUMPH!
Sometimes the best thing to do is to encourage or join in. Sometimes the best thing one can do to help is nothing at all.
How else can one learn what they are truly capable of?

Healing Cult & The Land

To give more than we take is one of the most important aspects of a Hyperborean Ethos, perhaps this is most clear in our relation to the land.
Before the coming modernity when our traditional ancient methods of forestry and agriculture were abandoned these actions actually enriched the land. The farm field became more fertile, the Forests more vibrant and magical. Not through Micromanaging nor ignoring it, but by seeking to live with the land rather than off of it. In doing so even land that is scarred and depleted can flourish once more.
Like all healing, it is encouraged, nurtured and allowed to grow strong on its own once it is provided the opportunity to do so. We must once more remember this ethos, in doing so the land may heal and our forests shall return.

Celebrations & Community

One of the most important and underappreciated aspects of the Healing Cult is the organizing of celebrations and festivals that allow us to revel and interact with one another.
In them we have a merrie olde time forging stronger bonds with each other in the maze of costumes, music, dancing, feasts and festivities the whole of the community learns they are not alone. Neighbors talk, friends see each other once more, and the communities solidify.

Depression is kept at bay and loneliness is evaporated by showing people, proving it to them. That they are not alone.

Manners Maketh Man

In polite society of the Brutal and Savage Hyperborean, manners are the epitome of the caring individual. While at times we may appear crude and rough around the edges; true manners are not some rigid etiquette lined out in Etiquette and the Language of Flowers 1883 but instead it is the unconscious acts of kindness, respect and a gentleness unique to our people executed with no thought of reward or acclaim.

Instead these simple acts, these "Little Lights" show people that someone genuinely cares; holding a door, pulling out a chair, or even offering a cup of tea or coffee when you are making your own. These everyday acts of kindness lift the spirits and hopes of people, nurturing bonds of friendship and family.

The simplest act of kindness might be enough to change a persons life and the Healing Cultist does so from a place of genuineness that mere manners cannot go. It is a sincerity in ones actions that cannot be imitated.

Never be Cruel, Never be Cowardly and Always be Kind

Some might think that this kindness causes the Healing Cultist to become pacifistic; but this could not be further from the truth!

He is kind but never nice, he is hard but not cruel. The Brutality to make the hard decisions, to know when it is time to let someone go, when suffering is too great, to know when there is not enough to go around. Even in his violence the Healing Cultist does not wish to cause suffering but to ease it. However brutal they must be to do so.

Healing cultists can and often are some of the most savage and ruthless combatants for a wide variety of reasons. Not only their understanding of the human animal but also simply because they are engaging in an act that they deem necessary for the health of the over all.

Sometimes the only way to cure an illness is with a fever. Sometimes one must cut it out. Healing is not always nice but it is always always kind.

How strong must ones heart be to do so?

What is a Bardic Cultist?

The epitome of You Know it When You See It The Bardic Cult is one of the most prolific Cults, yet one of the least definable. Some may think "Musicians" or "Artists" but this does a disservice to the Bardic Cult narrowing them down to a profession. No... The Bardic Cult Deals in Inspiration the Driving Force of the Divine that shimmers forth from our people. That indomitable spirit, that certain "quality" represented in our actions. A Bard inspires through their deeds and creations. A song to stir the soul, a Monument whose beauty drives one to tears, a great hero rallying people not merely with words but deed!

We all know that moment when something touches us beyond the mere physical, beyond logic, beyond emotion to the depths of our very soul. This cult is extremely self sacrificing, while they may seek adoration their true nature is to give of themselves until nothing is left, taking inspiration and amplifying it a thousand fold.

Remember Who You Are

One of the most important and often overlooked parts of the Bardic Cult is their role in reminding us who we are and what we are capable of. Not merely history but the lessons therein. Pulling deep from the well of our people, deep down through the pain and sorrow, through the joys and ecstasies' reminding us who we are are at our core. Not merely epics but action Everything the Bard does springs from the well of his people and he must sacrifice a bit of himself each time he draws from it.
In the modern day a sort of Neomania has taken hold of the Bards, the abandonment of the Ancient Inheritance for a culture of consumption, a cycle of endless creation devoid of this most sacred of duties has driven many of them mad or withered if not in flesh, in their soul.

For while the Bard creates he is a continuance the latest in a never-ending story, a story he must continue to tell in everything he does.

No Words

The Bardic Soul is not writ in words, while a Bard may use it as their medium it is not the true core of the bard. It is older than that, it is archaic even eldritch one might say. It is imbued in us from our very blood. Carving endless footprints painted in endless tears.
One finds it in ethereal and primal movements, in roars to the moon and stars, in the softest of kisses, in ones buried loved ones, older older still to a place we all recall, but dare not speak.

Because words...... words are meaningless there, words are lacking there. For there are No Words where the Bardic Soul comes from, only a way and an impulse, one no one can resist, no one can fully understand.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

What Inspires? What drives a man to greater heights? It is not empty words, it is deed!
More people have risen to greatness hearing of the great deeds of those who have come before. Of the slaying of the Hydra. The Gallantry of Camelot. Of Great Queens and Peasant Heroes than anything else.
The Bardic Cult knows this well, all the words in the world spoken, written or thought mean nothing if it is not manifested in deed. In heroic action and daring do! To truly inspire one must act! Act with courage! Act with wisdom! Act with strength!

Then... and only then will the world we believe in be born.

The Little Things

While legends are told of the greatest of deeds, the most epic of tales but lest we forget there is also the Saga of The Everyday. The little things that allow us to inspire each other show that all of us carry a bit of this in ourselves. Everyday we may carry ourselves in a way that honors the well of our people. The Dash for Homebase inspires a Young boy to become the greatest Ball Player ever, the family recipe inspires a child to become the worlds greatest chef, a moment of kindness inspires someone to great strength. One may expect only the great deeds to matter. The ones that people sing about in grand tales but we forget the dance on grandpas feet, the moment one chooses to stand up for what they believe in, impassioned fervor!
Every day we have this opportunity to inspire in what we do. So choose wisely, we are an ancient people and every last one of us has the Bardic soul within us. Only when all of us join together may it truly shine.

Creation & Inspiration

One of the most obvious roles of the Bardic Cult is to manifest through their creations the spirit of a people. OUR DIVINE WILL! From ancient Cave Paintings to the way we say I love you. Each and every action we take creates & effects the world around us.

The Bards know this more than most, they see the divine manifested before a single step is taken, a single brick, a single brush or line is lain on the canvas of the world. As these creations and actions. These inventions and directions are taken they add to each other, each one contributing more to each generation. Both in the inventions that change the world, and the creations of a world we wish to be or know to be. Entire movements and moments existed because an Artist made the world more.... what it truly is, what we forgot to see and from there the world can truly be born, in inspiring the next generation.

All Together Now

No great song is sung by only one person, it enters the folk language and is sung by generation after generation. No great building is built by the hands of only one man. No road is only walked by one wanderer. No tapestry is sewn without the aid of others. The Bardic Cult is not a solitary cult.
It requires others. It requires not only an audience but others to participate. When Our Hearts beat as one, songs sung in the Irish pubs, great halls built side by side with ones neighbor. The gold is mined. The silver is smithed. Nothing is done alone we are and always have been a part of the grander whole of our people!

The Bardic Soul permeates all of us! So I say ALL TOGETHER NOW, cry out the world you wish to see, the song you wish to be sung for it is we who are the masters of own fate! We who decide how our world is to be! US! OUR PEOPLE! That is who decides the true path we tread. The world is what we make of it, what do we choose?

Our First Song

There is a certain sound that all Hyperborean's know, the Bardic Cultist know it well. We hear it when we work, we hear it when we sleep, we hear it when we walk in the mountains, when we swim in the lakes, even now we hear it... Our First Song, the song that was sung to us from the moment we came to this realm, the moment we were who we are...

Ba-dum.. Ba-dum

We all know this first song. The one from which each rhythm and beat erupts, before we hear exaltation, glorious roars, sweet melodies by our bedside. We all have this first song, the one sung to us by the worlds oldest instrument...

Our Mothers Heart.

May by Heinrich Lefler 1899

"The honeysuckle round the porch has woven its wavy bowers,
And by the meadow-trenches blow the faint sweet cuckoo-flowers;
And the wild marsh-marigold shines like fire in swamps and hollows gray, And I’m to be Queen o’ the May, mother, I’m to be Queen o’ the May".-
