i went to a retreat called the hoffman process last year

life changing for me! the storytelling we do are also patterns - patterns we learn from our parents, who learnt from theirs

they taught about the 4 parts of yourself - the quadranity, and it was incredibly helpful to facilitate a convo between my intellect vs my emotional child

from there you can see where narratives are spun from wounds, or shame, or as a way to protect yourself

Ogilvy on Advertising by David Ogilvy

recommended to me by a senior marketer. not everything is applicable given the digital age, but the fundamentals are still good lessons.

main takeaways:
• tons of minor details when creating ads like typography or headline creation
• ads should always be created with the intention of viewers reading alone
• stuff your conscious mind with information, then unhook your rational thought process. this helps to open up your unconscious mind.
• do not kill successful ad campaigns until it has proven to not work anymore. literally MILK and squeeze it dry

fav quotes:
I do not regard advertising as entertainment or an art form, but as a medium of information. When I write an advertisement, I don’t want you to tell me that you find it ‘creative.’ I want you to find it so interesting that you buy the product.

evidently i am once again lacking in the fiction department, somehow my reading list is continuously piling up w non-fiction (my next 2 reads are nonfiction)

will have to make a conscious effort to add more fiction in

i hate to go the best seller route but seems i have no choice..
the amount of backlash from OpenAI’s decision to remove 4o is honestly worrying

we’re just at the cusp of AI and people are already showing attachments and dependence on their AI bot for emotional needs

unsurprising because a lot have turned toward chatgpt for therapy or even validation

now, who were the ones that used to laugh at people wanting to marry a robot?
